In what's become an increasingly dysfunctional atmosphere, Golden State Warriors coach Mark Jackson has forced a reassignment of assistant coach Brian Scalabrine, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Ownership and management have been strong advocates of Scalabrine and his performance on the job, sources told Yahoo Sports. Nevertheless, Warriors officials decided that as long as Jackson is the head coach, he'll have control of his coaching staff.

It is immediately unclear what kind of a role to which the Warriors will transition Scalabrine, but management has no intention of letting him leave the organization, sources said.

I wonder if Jackson is paranoid about being replaced and sees Scalabrine as a candidate being groomed by management.  The article mentions that there have been no talks about an extension.

I think this is simple as Scal being seen as a "management" guy and Jackson and his relationship breaking down over it.

I'd dial that back to about 85/15 with what Faf just said

I don't know if he's an idiot, but he might be insecure.  This, coupled with his clashes with Mike Malone as an assistant, suggest a coach who can't abide other guys with strong opinions.

I loved Scal when he was on the Celtics broadcast, and I'd be trilled to have him on the coaching staff, though I'm afraid we don't have a slot for him currently.

Scals has an extremely high basketball IQ and is very intelligent.

Can't say I'm terribly surprised that Mark Jackson might get a little insecure.  Jackson is also a guy that talks all tough but comes across rattled and defensive when pushed.

Two personalities like that seem to be oil & water.

Yeah, some people aren't too high on his coaching ability.  But he's helped make Golden State relevant again, so he's doing something right.

Interesting news coming out of Golden State last night.  Mark Jackson reportedly forced Brian Scalabrine out of his coaching staff.

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/warriors-coach-mark-jackson-forces-reassignment-of-assistant-brian-scalabrine-184142899.html

I would be very surprised if Scal's coaching persona was too different from his player/radio persona.  He has always seemed articulate, thoughtful, motivated, diplomatic, and like a coach.  I couldn't see him morphing into  destructive force.

As for Mark Jackson, he seems opinionated and a bit of a firecracker. From the article, he also allegedly has a hot temper and doesn't get along well with others.  Either way, I wish Scal the best and hope he gets another shot, maybe in a place where he is wanted.

Does anyone have any inside info on what really went down?

I'll stick with idiot.  his time as a broadcaster convinced me.  this is just backing up my opinion of him
