Celtics are giving up to much for just some future cap space.
That's the whole idea of the trade. I doubt they'll get more, and I think when push comes to shove -- the Cs will prefer cap space to either of these two players, even if they can't get 1sts.
what's the infatuation with cap space? I've mentioned it elsewhere, it's this site's great white whale. senselessly chasing after just for the sake of catching it.
hyper-flexibility in deals, mostly. we'd immediately inherit the NBA pole position as the top match for any team forced to trade a star (ala Dwight Howard or Chris Paul). it's not sexy because it doesn't immediately return a shiny new toy and bloggers have no patience, for the most part. but it's far more valuable -- especially to a team with lots of picks -- than #UncleSnoozeButton.
i don't give a hoot about any player on this roster -- other than Rondo, Sully, and to a lesser extent Bradley -- until we find a franchise player through the draft, via trade, or both.
example: if you were the Blazers and you had to trade Aldridge over the summer... would you rather take back Jeff Green and / or Brandon Bass with your 3,4 draft picks for him, or... nothing?
you see my point. maybe it happens, maybe it doesn't. or maybe you just want to take a pick from someone who needs to dump salary to get under the cap to sign a player, or under the tax. again, more valuable that a mediocre veteran taking us to the 30 win mark.
