I know it would never actually happen, but its fun to think about.
Boston out: Rondo, Humprhies, Bass, Wallace, Crawford
Boston in: Rose, Stoudemire, Hardaway Jr., Bobcats 2014 first
Boston takes a chance on Rose's recovery and simultaneously cuts off the 3rd year of Wallace's deal, while picking up another solid 2014 pick and even comes away with a late first round prospect from last year. Chicago has to throw in the Bobcats pick as a risk premium since this is Rose's second knee injury, while the Celtics can justify the risk by the doctor's expectations Rose is returning 100% and the fact that he is locked up for 3 years beyond this one, while Rondo will be a free agent soon. They eat Stoudemire's contract in exchange for dumping the Wallace deal and also pick op Hardaway Jr. who has some potential and is on rookie deal. What really tops it off is that the Celtics are putting themselves in a position to lead the tank race and get a very high lottery selection to pair with their young core and Rose when he returns.
Chicago Out: Rose, Boozer, Bobcats 2014 first
Chicago In: Rondo, Humprhies, Bass
The Bulls decide to go for it this year with Rondo at the point. Although they're selling Rose at his lowest point, they avoid the risk of him becoming the next Brandon Roy and pick up a pg who will be healthy this season and who is likewise amongst the elite guards in the league. Additionally they move Boozer's deal, which has been long talked about as an amnesty candidate, in exchange for Humprhies expiring and Bass' much more reasonable deal. They can attempt to replace Boozer Moneyball style with a combination of minutes split between Humph's size and Bass' shooting. The Bobcats' pick is a tough pill to swallow, but the price to pay to change their championship hopes' recovery time from over a year to right now.
New York out: Stoudemire, Hardaway Jr.
New York in: Boozer, Wallace, Crawford
New York gets some much needed help for it's front court with Boozer and bench depth/energy with Wallace. In exchange all they have to give up is Amare, who they really can't expect to ever make an impact due to health, and swapping Hardaway Jr. for Crawford. Hardaway Jr. probably has more potential, but Crawford is ready to contribute now and his play has been outstanding this season. They also still hold onto Shumpert to dangle in trades for a more impact body. But this deal would really help stabilize them and should help them gain traction in a messy East.
