Boston acquires - Robinson, Freeland, McCollum, Mirotic, and either Wright or Klaver&Leonard plus Charlotte's 1st from Chicago

Chicago acquires - Rondo, Bass

Portland acquires - Boozer

Portland goes all in this year by trading young prospects for Boozer (they have to believe that Boozer and Aldridge could play together for them to make the trade).

Chicago unloads Boozer (and gets an ok replacement in Bass) and gives up some high value assets in Mirotic and Charlotte's 1st to acquire Rondo allowing them a shot at competing this year.  Next year if Rose is back it will allow him to move into a SG type role with Butler at SF and Deng elsewhere.

Boston gets a number of young players (some of which are solid prospects) and a high value 1st rounder for Rondo and Bass.

Overall I think this trade might work for all three teams and seems like the kind of trade Ainge would make if he moves Rondo.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

I don't think this trade makes much sense for any of the teams involved. I don't see Boozer/Aldridge working that well together in particular.

It's not the first time I've seen the idea and I just don't follow. Chicago doesn't want to compete this year, their fans just lost their superstar, they want to get rid of salary and get a few picks if possible, the gm came out and said they are changing their roster. I doubt he meant make a big trade to contend for a single year.
You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into.

horrible trade -- especially for the C's.  give up the best player for a bunch of crap and a pick that is not exactly a guarantee of being high in the lottery in the weak East.
your selling point is  "Boston gets a number of young players (some of which are solid prospects) and a high value 1st rounder for Rondo and Bass."?  really?

At least you're consistent in your effort to undervalue Rondo and ship him out for pennies on the dollar.

I'd characterize Ainge as more the "trade pieces for stars" type than the "trade stars for pieces" type. What would Danny do if he got a bunch of pieces? Try and package them for a star...

That is true, but you need those players to do that.  Contrary to what Ainge says publicly, I don't think he sees Rondo as a building block.  If he can get assets by trading him that he can use for the building block he will do it.

Trade doesn't make sense for any of the three teams, really.

For Portland: firstly, Aldridge and Boozer both are power forwards; Aldridge is not going to play center (which is why the grossly undersized Hickson had to play center last year) and Boozer just isn't a center.  Beyond that, Portland's issue wasn't with its starting roster; it was with their bench, which was the worst in the league in terms of production last season.  What'd they do this summer?  Flesh out their bench.  This trade would gut them of all of the depth they just worked to acquire this summer and place them right back in the position they were in last year: a lottery team with a bad bench.

For Chicago: with Rose's injury, the new goal is going to be cutting costs to avoid incurring the repeater tax.  Acquiring Rondo and Bass doesn't help with that.

For Boston: I just don't see the point in acquiring a bunch of young players playing exactly the same positions as the young players currently on the Celtics.  There'd be a lot of duplication, which would inevitably stifle their individual development.
