best I could come up with today

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=mn65rgy

Celtics get Danny Granger's expiring $14M deal

Pacers get Ariza and Courtney Lee (only Lee is long term commitment and they improve their bench even more with solid defenders)

Wizards get Bass and Brooks.  Bass is a legit help down low - especially when Nene is hurt.  Brooks just makes the numbers work.

Like it. Simple. Makes sense for all (Pacers could use depth at the 2, Wiz could use help at the 4).

It'd be interesting to see if Granger could develop a relationship with the Cs. He may come cheap this summer, and in many ways I prefer him to Green -- especially as a fit with Rondo.

I really think the Pacers will be looking for a bigger upgrade at PG if they trade Granger.

It's not a wash this year.  Granger is $14.0 million.  Bass/Lee/Brooks are $12.89 million.  The Celtics are so close to the luxury tax threshold that they pretty much can't even take back a few hundred thousand more than they send out if they want to stay out of the luxury tax and avoid the repeater tax in the near-future.

Yep. That's why I asked. Any trade offer that does not immediately lower current year payroll is pretty much a non-starter.

I think the C's are waiting for 12/15 when Bogans can be traded.

I think the Wizards can get Bass from Boston for a lesser package of Jan Vesely and Trevor Booker. Then the Wizards can keep Trevor Ariza who has been a valuable role player for them this season. If they really wanted M.Brooks too, they could throw in Chris Singleton to make that work.

Seems like they are giving up more than they need to by trading away Ariza for Bass.
