Bass and Lee

As much as I don't want to see Bass play for the Celtics anymore, I'm resigned to the fact that Ainge will just acquire another, no-rebound, soft, low-basketball IQ big who can only hit mid-range jumpers in no time.  From Mark Blount to Big Baby (who was different in that he actually took charges and could pass, but still couldn't rebound or score efficiently) to Bass, the man has a dumb fetish.

You know what?  Bass is such a terrible passer that yeah, I'm absolutely positive that I'm a better passer than him.  The guy must have no memory recall of any play.  Even simple ball rotations require him to process that simple of passes for at least two beats longer than anyone else.  And  his handle is so jumbled, that yeah, I can dribble better than him.  Bass isn't just a bad passer and dribbler for the NBA, it's just bad for any level.

Please get me a try out.  Is typing in lower cases required?  If so, I might have to decline.

You're comparing yourself to a NBA player, an elite athlete, that was recruited out of high school, got a scholarship to play basketball in college, and was drafted to NBA and has been in the league for 8 years.

If you were any good at passing or dribbling you would've been in the NBA too.
Maybe you are, but I doubt it.

I have no problem with Lee and Bass if we are contending but were a rebuilding team.

Plan for Courtney Lee, Brandon Bass, Kris Humphries, Jordan Crawford and even Gerald Wallace: Showcase Season.

If we wanted to get rid of them for nothing, Bass and Lee would probably be on another team right now.

I think AInge would love nothing more than to deal them both. However, finding suitors will be tough. It'll probably have to be to a contending team who suffers an injury at their positions and have an expiring deal to offer in return.

I'd really hate for Bass to steal PT from the other 4 bigs. 3 of them (Olynyk, Sullinger, Fav) need to continue to develop, while Humphries needs minutes to showcase him for a potential suitor by the deadline.

And if Stevens stands by his comments on Fav below then I worry that Olynyk is the most likely candidate to be the odd man out.

Bass keeps stinking it in the preseason and this won't be a worry.

I think Courtney Lee is in danger of losing his starting spot if he continues to play as badly in the remaining preseason as he has done in the first two.

I think Bass is safe as a starter but might see his minutes scaled back some. To a 24mpg player rather than a 28-30mpg starter. It looks to me like Stevens is trying to avoid coupling Bass + Olynyk together on the court and is instead trying to keep one of Sully / Humphries on the court at all times. And I think he likes having that extra jump-shooting big on the floor because the offense is already so limited. So I think that makes Bass safe as a starter for now.

I actually think it's the opposite.

Lee doesn't really have anyone behind him pushing to take those minutes.  Brooks hasn't shown anything and Crawford hasn't moved passt him on the depth chart. 

Bass on the otherhand has Sully, KO and Hump that all play his position (and doing it better) as can Green and Wallace if needed.  If Bass doesn't become productive, I can see him getting a lot of DNP-CDs later this year and we'll be stuck with him until he becomes an expiring deal (if not longer)

I really hope they both get traded as either a plain salary dump or for expiring contracts this season. Would love to be a player in free agency next season, and taking 12mil off the books for next year allows us to sign up to a max contract (using our trade exception).

Unload Bass and Lee, help detroit free up their front court. Monroe seems the odd man out there and give them an upgrade at SG over Stuckey who is a worse shooter and plays more with the ball in his hands. Throw in one of our many picks.

Detroit fills in a questionable sg spot while getting rid of stuckey and letting Jennings run the floor most the game. A solid shooter and bench player in bass to back up Smith and come in if they move him to sf at times.

Call it a stretch but it works for both teams. Unless you think Monroe is the next shaq, I don't think its too far off.
