Hey everyone,

So, on Facebook I have certain friends blocked from seeing status updates I may post, photos, etc.  I don't want to remove them from my friends list because I am still friendly with these people, just don't want them knowing my personal life.  At any rate, last night I posted a photo of myself, along with 2 of my friends, and a person who I put on this "blocked list" liked the photo.  I went back and checked to see if they were on the list or maybe I had forgot to include them, and they were on the list.

Is there some sort of glitch or hacker program, say, on a phone or the computer that allows users to breakthrough these things and be able to see posts you may not want them to see.  Not that I was posting anything crazy, stupid, graphic or whatever, but there are those people you just don't like knowing everything about you.  I was just very baffled when I got the notification that she liked my photo.  Anyways, hope everyone is enjoying the weekend  Stay safe, have fun.

by any chance does your friend work for the NSA?  :)
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

If one of your friends that isn't blocked commented on the photo or liked it or shared it and is friends with your blocked friend, the blocked friend still might have been able to see the photo through the unblocked friend commenting, liking or sharing it.

I just checked and nope, nobody liked or commented on the photo that I share with this person as a mutual friend.

Does Facebook recognize photos as status updates? Perhaps they are different?

Well, the thing is, she also liked a status I posted earlier in the evening that when I clicked on who the audience for the particular post would be, it reads: "Friends, friends of anyone tagged; except:" and then gives the names of the people I chose to hide the post from, and her name is first on the list, yet she was still able to see the post and liked it.

if the photo has people tagged, and the blocked person is friends with a tagged person, they could see it via their wall.

side question.....why bother blocking friends....why not just remove the person from your friends list?

photos are not status updates. simpple as that. You blocked your friend from seeing status updates, not photos.

However, I posted a status and she liked it, even after I had her on the "list" of people who shouldn't be able to see it.

I understand it's easy to just delete her from my list as 1-2-3, but it's one of those things where you have a friend and you are friendly with them.  It's not some random person. It's like being friends with a family member on FB and you're at college, you're getting wrecked every weekend, but you don't want them seeing it because you know they'll report it to your parents/grandparents, etc...(I've experienced that, too)

Anyways, I went back on FB and I returned to the privacy section and it said that my "posts", which include status updates, photos, check-ins, etc, should not be seen by this person, along with others...She must have some program on her computer or iPhone that can break through the "wall".  So I will have to delete her I guess.  I know someone said, in essence, why have her as a friend in the first place?...It's just one of those things.

Sounds like a Facebook glitch, but the real issue is why block people from seeing what you post at all?  I could see it if it was your boss or something, but not just a random friend.  Either you shouldn't be posting it or you shouldn't be facebook friends with those particular people.

It's just Facebook controlling you however they feel. "Sure we'll tell them that people can't see certain stuff, but they'll never know that everyone can actually see it." Just more crooked Facebook bs.

Look - it actually IS very simple.

If you post something about your personal life on facebook, or any other such social media where you allow even one person to see it, then you should probably assume that the world will eventually see it.

I doubt that this person has some 'special program' or other software designed deliberately to hack through facebook's security.   The problems with that thinking are (a) FB's 'security' has been known to have many glitches and weird problems the last few years and (b) if you think this person would deliberately want to hack through the security just to look at your FB page, then you have a stalking problem.

I would bet the problem is really on (a).   Relying on FB security is probably not a reliable long term proposition.
