I'm hoping this particular story is not as bad as it seems at this early point, because despite his past problems, I still think Ty is a decent guy.
What reason do you have for thinking he is a decent guy?
What reason do you have for thinking he
isn't a decent guy?
I've been following him since high school, and he's always been active in his community, his church, worked hard academically at UNC, was ACC POTY, won the Bob Cousy Award, was on the McDonald's All-American Team, was part of the Big Brother program, and active in NBA Cares.
He was thought
very highly opf by his peers, his teachers, and his coaches, in junior high, high school and college, and has taken being a role model seriously.
Even the DUI he was booked on was because he was playing music was too loud and under 21 ... his blood alcohol level was well
under the legal limit of .08, but his age was five months shy of 21, (in which case he was allowed
no alcohol in his blood in that state, NC - his licensed was under suspension as well).
There are many, many "decent" people who have been booked on much worse, and had many more run-ins with the law ... professional athletes and NBA players included, obviously.
For what it's worth, his girlfriend was arrested at the same time as this arrest ... I think it's prudent not to judge him on this problem until more is known.
