  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.
I'm very fearful that he'd go to the Lakers.

That would be the ultimate insult. Pierce wouldn't do something like that to a franchise that's been his home for more than a decade.
I like Marcus Smart

A 10 day contract with the Celts to retire as one.
PP asked to be able to retire a Celtic and took less money in his last contract to retire a Celtic...I hope he tells Danny and company where to go ......................for many years to come.

KG has another 2 years on the books.  figure PP for a 1-year deal around 10 mill and maybe the year after KG retires, a return to Boston for a 1-2 year deal for less $

How did he take less money in his last contract.  i thought he got a max deal.  IIRC, all he gave up was the last year being partially guaranteed.

Paul also said earlier this season that he didn't want to go through another rebuild at this point in his career. He also said previously that he'd be open to coming back to Boston for 1 day to retire a Celtic.

People seem to have a need to make Danny a villian. Sorry folks, no villians here. Just a hard working GM.

I'd say two years $18-20 million.

here's the exact quote:
"Well, I always said I want to end my career as a Celtic. But they're the ones -- I have a contract for next year, but it's not guaranteed. So the decision is in their hands. Whatever decisions they make, maybe if they trade me somewhere or I end up somewhere else, maybe it can be a situation where I come back for a one-day deal and retire a Celtic."
-- Paul Pierce

can't blame others making DA a villain even our great Larry Bird understands the reason why DA traded KG and PP.. if you look at it..we got a LOT from the Nets deal that can benefit the Cs in the near future

If there are different levels of being WRONG you're on the highest bro. Paul wanted no part of a rebuild...said so...was traded with his friend to a legitimate contender. Coulda' been worse for him. Much worse. Danny didn't break his word...on the contrary Paul had his wish full filled.

You do not know what it is you're talking about. Search the forums or look for vids of Paul and what he said himself. The internet is your friend

To those who think Paul would NEVER go to the Lakers...I don't know what to say? What did Paul have to say about Ray going to Miami...compared to Doc and K.G., not much.

Judge ye not...lest ye be judged.

The celtics draft wiggins, sign lebron and bring back pierce on a one year contract. ;)

If Danny do not win GM of the year for that scenario, I will start a riot :-p

He wins GM of the year for getting three players who play the same position?

Bro are you kidding me? What rock did you crawl out from under? If PP and KG stay then it's another run,  it's not a rebuild. Another run is what PP, KG and Doc wanted.  Next time think it all the way through, and maybe read up on how Bill Russell ended his 14 years as a Celtic.  And stop with the all caps.

I think your definition of near future and mine are different.  Danny did get a lot but gave up tradition, loyalty and a Bill Russell last run that many here wanted to see.

Yay.
My first flame war.
An easy one too.
That bolded part. You serious?

We were 1st round exits and coulda' been swept. Another run? We haven't made a real run in 2 years and that was with a lot of stars lining up. Even giving K.G. extra games off just exposed how bad we were without him on the floor. The rebuild shoulda started with Ray for Mayo and maybe last year coulda been better. That never happened so that never happened.
Spare me the caps critique and I'll spare you the "you MAKE NO SENSE critique.

Ignore roster realities.
Ignore financial realities
Ignore Doc's bizzaro act and how it affected what followed.
Ignore what you saw on the floor last year and lastly..
Ignore me...please. I'll happily ignore you too.

In response to the long silly name who posted above I will not repeat all that crap you attached.   You are too easy:  2013 no point guard at all, no Rondo ACL, and no Sullinger.
2012 we took Miami to 7 Games.  2011 you admit we made a run.

Doc, Paul and KG thought it made sense.  Now go read about Bill Russell.

Russell ???...you go read about Paul Pierce

Quote
“I mean, I really don’t want to be part of a rebuilding situation again. I just think at this point in time that’s something that would wear on me too much mentally that I don’t know what decision I may make if I have to. I may retire if I have to. You know, that’s something that’s a year-end process, especially given the situation that we have right now.”
According to Pierce, his call will be dictated by the direction the Celtics take moving forward. And while he has stated strongly that he would like to end his career with the club, he opened the door wide to the possibility he could finish elsewhere.
“It’s all on what they plan on doing,” said Pierce. “If they try to go into a rebuild mode, then, you know, I don’t know if I want to be a part of that. But that’s up to them and what they need to do. I don’t want to go out on a rebuild mode.
“I want an opportunity to at least try to win another championship, simple and plain. And if that’s not going to be here — if that’s going to be somewhere else — so be it. That’s what it has to be. I mean, even the greatest players played for other franchises.”

Get over it. Paul was gone. How and what we got was in question but gathering the weapons to get over Indiana,N.Y.,Miami..then the West...not happening.

I'm not flaming. Your too out of touch. Bill Russell, nice story. Not happening in 2013/2014.
