Kelly Olynyk, power forward (via the Boston Herald):

"They're so disciplined, so executionally sound," he said of his Butler impressions. "I think a lot of it has to do with him. When we were playing them, you'd think you know what's coming, but you really don’t. All of a sudden they have a counter to the counter. It's unbelievable.
"I'm excited. He's a great coach. I really respect him. I think he's a great basketball mind. I really respect him because he knows the game and is a student of the game. I'm really looking forward to working with him and I'm excited for the opportunity."

Shavlik Randolph, power forward (via the Boston Herald):

“I played against him when I was a freshman at Duke and he was an assistant at Butler,” said Shavlik Randolph. “It’s actually one of the best games I had (24 points on 11-of-13 shooting and 10 rebounds in 18 minutes).
“I don’t want to say anything to him about it, but we actually blew them out at Cameron (Indoor Stadium). But I’m very familiar with coach Stevens and I know Coach K (Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski) is a huge fan of his.”

Courtney Lee, shooting guard (via the Boston Herald):

“I’m from Indianapolis and he’s been at Butler for a while. I remember him more when he wasn’t the head coach, he was on the staff. I talked to him a few times because we were always at Butler for open gym and whatnot. We know each other pretty well.

“He recruited me a little bit, but nothing major. No scholarships. I’m going to have to talk to him about that a little bit. But other than that he’s a good coach. He turned that program into a national contender every year. Hopefully it translates to the NBA level.”

Jared Sullinger, power forward (via the Boston Herald):

“He worked under (current Ohio State) coach (Thad) Matta for a while, so I know a lot about him,” Sullinger said. “Coach Matta likes him. I’ve liked him ever since he took Butler to the Final Four.”

And here's a quote from Shelvin Mack, a former Butler player who believes Rondo will like his new coach (via the Boston Globe):

“Stevens will do a great job of letting Rondo do what he does best, and Rondo will really appreciate that,” Mack said.
