I mean that's all anyone has to say in the media right now. Who cares how old he is. He can coach, and the oldest guys we had are gone In Kevin,Paul, and Terry.

The Rondo Stevens relationship will be fascinating to watch, but I can't believe I'm saying this, If Brad turns out to be the coach a lot of people think he can be in the league and Rondo cannot get along with him I actually would look to move Rondo at some point for the right price. I would not do that for many coaches but I got a feeling about this kid. We shall see.

 Example

When Brad Stevens shakes hands with opponents on the court this season, he'll be greeting players his own age.

Stevens was born in 1976. He's 36 years old now and will turn 37 on October 22, just a few days before the NBA season will start.

One could fashion an NBA starting lineup out of active players born in 1976: Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett in the frontcourt, Antawn Jamison the swingman and Andre Miller and Chauncey Billups in the backcourt.

And there are several active players born before 1976: Ray Allen, Steve Nash and Derek Fisher to name a few.
Youngest Debut By Celtics Head Coach
Age
1978   Dave Cowens   30
1966   Bill Russell   32
1950   Red Auerbach   33
1969   Tom Heinsohn   35
>Stevens will rank 5th (37)

Stevens will likely have more NBA players near his age than NBA coaches. Stevens will become the NBA's youngest active head coach, ahead of Jacque Vaughn (age 38) and David Joerger (age 39). All other NBA coaches are in their 40s or above.

In defense of the media -- who deserve no such thing -- there's not much else to talk about WRT this guy until he has his presser.

Get use to it, bud. It's been less than 24 hours. You're going to hear it nonstop for at least a year.

don't think age interms of b ball  IQ will have any effect on him coaching,  he is smart,

NBA at the top level , a coach is more a "handler" and coach second to the stars........with a bunch of college aged kids , he is more of a coach.

problem is respect .   I respect him and I'm  older ......but I don't make 80'million dollars and  no team wants me either and I'm not a public hero figure

But ....the players that become stars have  incredible egos,  make so much money ,  and gEt the BiG Head  so much more than college kids who are trying to make it to the NBA.  it's just a different game at the highest talent level.  Coaching the Bobcats is one thing, coaching the Lakers, Celtics or Knicks is more of a pressure cooker in so many ways.

NBA becomes a baby sitting job and a coaching job second

Will he get the respect out of guys nearly his own age  ?

PJ Carlismo got assaulted ,    Pitino failed ,  it's difficult for millionaire know it all 's to let somebody boss them around ,

Spo.....would have been crushed by the heat players , except he has that tuff as nails , take no prisoners Riley sitting in the stands backing him up.   And Wade won't play for a real coach, he is a street thug ,  who would probably wind up in jail otherwise.

That's why  Doc was successful, he was peacemaker first and coach second.

nBA players are jerks and hard headed ........getting guys like Kobe , D12 to follow directions and such is more about being a counselor than coaching,

NBa players have far more off court drama ,   than college issues , of studying and girlfriends.

Maybe Danny 's tuff reputation will backup Brad,  I hope so,    he'll have to be like Riley and make it clear , he will not tolerate bs .

knowing what a pain the players and  GM's can be is why it takes someone who has sit on the bench and seen what the NBA is all about.

That's why the rerun of coaches over and over again .....even though they fail  with win or losses ,  the fact they can endure the mouths and attitudes of the GM and players earns them jobs.

I was for Lionel Hollins to be coach.   He seems to have the respect of the players ,  like Doc,  but I think is a better coach

I also like the coach of the Pelicans,    he is great babysitter and motivator.

Brad has the mind to win,  but does he have the patience and attitude to deal with the NBA superstars and if he is to become successful he'll need to learn  to handle the stars , cause he'll need them to win , unlike college.

No, it hasn't even been 24 hours yet. I have a 3  year old and work with highschool kids. Its going to take a little more than that for it to drive me nuts. People just talk to talk some times.

It will be around for a week or two. Get threw summer league, maybe a little while FA gets heated, then it will die down till training camp and preseason. After that it wont come up until a big loosing or winning streak, or a player blowing up.
