Might there be a third team involved that needs players and salary filler? See my post about trade possibilities with Utah.
The beatings will continue until morale improves

I have another thought.  Maybe, juts maybe, the Nets didn't want to give up Evans?  I mean, they are trying to contend for a title, and Evans is a more valuable player.  We could insist, but they could also refuse.  It was not worth the jeopardizing the trade for this detail.

There is also the issue of roster spaces, how many players would we have under contract in the new scenarios? We're sending out three and getting 4 at least right, five with Bogans and maybe more? It could very well be we don't want to tie up a roster spot via taking more players on. (waiving them costs us money too)

Also the Nets could want to keep the other players mentioned.

As was pointed out early in this thread, the BYC rule means Bogans 5 million only counts for 2.5 for the trade and the math of the current players included definitely requires roughly that much.

Evans I believe got removed from the deal because of concerns about the big man rotation on the Nets part. Probably from KG as he reportedly made sure his minutes would be kept down as well as getting his final year fully guaranteed by the Nets.
