Tyreke Evans offer sheet, even the rumor of it made me lol first.

Reminds me of the Courtney Lee contract, I wonder if they'll be trying to dump it in just one year potentially like we were. (or at least looking at it, clearly we wanted to dump Terry more)

You're right, that Evans offer sheet was LOL-worthy.

One really nice thing about being a rebuilding team is we don't have to worry about Danny overspending on mediocre veterans like Martell Webster.

If Danny has one clear weakness as a GM it's in identifying players who will be a good investment in the mid-level range.

Apparently the fourth year is only partially guaranteed.

No where even close. Tyreke's offer sheet and many other rumors are LOL worthy. This move is actually reasonable.

Webster is a great shooter and a good defender, and Washington LOVES his presence in the locker room. $5.5M isn't excessive at all. He might be overpaid $.5-1M, but I don't think that's bad considering what teams are throwing at Evans and Smith, and inevitably Jefferson.

I think $5.5 million a year is excessive when you're likely only bidding against yourself. Was Webster really going to get more than $4 mil/year on the open market?

I get the chemistry/locker room thing, but spending your entire MLE on Webster just seems foolish to me.

Wizards are going to have to find takers for Ariza and Chris Singleton if they want to open up minutes for Webster and prized youngsters Beal and Porter.

Webster is ahead of both Ariza and Singleton on the depth chart, and I think Webster is capable of being a backup SG for Beal, too. Again, in an offseason where guys like Tyreke Evans are getting paid as much as they are, overspending by about $1M isn't bad. I mean, I'm not coming out and saying that this was an absolutely phenomenal steal for the Wizards, but it's a reasonable deal, and most certainly not a "LOL moment".

Martell was at a pro camp here in Florida in the summer of 2012 that I sometimes go watch.  He seemed like a hard worker and seemed to be well liked by the other players.  One of his coaches mentioned to me that he was a sharpshooter and would be a good replacement for Ray Allen (this was just after Ray went to Miami).  I had my doubts.  After he got picked up by the Wiz he was sort of just a role player,  but I seem to remember that he did have a 35 point game (at least one).  He is still relatively young (he was drafted #6, right out of high school, in 2005), so they may feel he still room to improve.
