I think its decieving that they are saying the NBA hasn't approved it.  It hasn't been approved because it hasn't been submitted.  Its been pretty clear that the NBA will approve it when its done.

Doc just realizes he is agreeing to work for a terrible person, who has fired coaches and tried to not pay them in the past, so he is making sure he doesn't spend years in court trying to get what is owed to him when this is done.  And I don't blame him.

Are Doc's contract with the Clips and our receiving a pick a single move? Seems to me that they should be 2 separate moves -- compensation to let Doc out of contract, and then contract signing with new team. Otherwise, we really did trade Doc no matter what they call it.

They're separate moves, but the Clippers aren't sending us a pick till they and Doc have agreed to a contract. Otherwise he could take another job and the Clippers gave up a pick for nothing.

It sounds like Boston submitted its side of the deal to me. (hence the inital Jackie Mac report) And the NBA indicated it was going to approve it, then they waited for the Clippers half, and crickets due to the negotiations with Doc.

So it hasn't been officially submitted because the clippers didn't CC their PM with the deal to the CB Draft commish.

Doc knows what he's getting himself into, so he's making an iron clad contract. Plus he's going to be over the player personnel there

Rivers may have worked out the last details of a pact that will make him the coach and give him significant power over player personnel decisions

This whole thing is sad... Especially after the sting of watching Ray get another ring in red and white.

  • It's all about the TEAM!
I wonder how warm and fuzzy their fans will feel when Doc says...

"I'm a Clipper".

I don't really know why, but I really hope it falls thought. I'm not that excited about a late 1st in 2015, and the idea of Doc having to go back to broadcaster for a lot less money amuses me.

He won't want to do that for 3 years, so the Celtics could probably still get something for him somewhere down the line.

DOC, they guy who does not know anything about honoring a contract is actually negotiating another contract? LOL

I wonder what lies they are telling each other in this contract.

Clippers need not worry about Doc's word even if it is in writing because he like some of his supporters does not believe he has to honor anything. He can always leave because he is burnt out, because he just does not like the direction of the team (even though he knew the move in that direction was coming), oh and because he does not need the money - these are just some of the insane reasons Doc's supporters have come up with to explain his breach of contract. Oh, don't argue with them because they will tell you that you do not understand employment contracts.

Doc is UBUNTU well until he is NOT.
