Quote
The Charlotte Bobcats are shopping Michael Kidd-Gilchrist around the league, confident they will be able to replace him with Otto Porter of Georgetown with the No. 4 pick in Thursday’s draft.

The reason the Bobcats braintrust of Rich Cho and owner Michael Jordan believe Porter will be available is because, SheridanHoops has learned from league sources, the Washington Wizards are determined to draft Andrew Bennett of UNLV with the No. 3 pick.

A second league source said the Bobcats have been working the phones, gauging the interest level among teams for the 2nd pick in the 2012 NBA Draft.

“MKG” had an up-and-down rookie season for the Bobcats averaging 9.0 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 1.5 apg, 0.9 bpg and 0.7 spg. Among the teams most interested, according to the source, are the Milwaukee Bucks, Golden State Warriors, Atlanta Hawks and Boston Celtics.

Charlotte has targeted Harrison Barnes of the Warriors as the player they would most like to acquire, but a straight-up offer of Kidd-Gilchrist would not be enough.

I haven't seen a whole lot of his game except against celtics and he didn't stand out.

I've seen his size and I read a lot of "great defender" and "role player".

Can somebody give me a comparison player? Like a Kawhi Leonard type if he pans out decently? Better or worse would you guys say?

It's hard to think of a comp for him.  He's so valuable because he has the lateral quickness, length and tenacity to guard nearly anybody as he gains experience.  I don't know who to compare him to because it's hard to determine how much he'll ever score.  If he ever turns into a 15ppg scorer with an average jumpshot, he'll be a well above average player because of his ability to defend, rebound and pass.  Winners need players like this; not everybody can be a scorer.

I wonder if they'd take Thomas Robinson in return.

The Rockets wouldn't do that.  They are trying to clear cap space by trading Robinson to make a run at Howard...

Rondo for Gilchrist and Walker would be slightly interesting if Rondo needs to go.

Who? I live in Charlotte and had to look him up.
Michael Jordan. He's a former basketball legend turned franchise owner.
Not that idiot. I know who he is.

I had no idea who Michael Kidd-Gilchris was but I figured he's the one they drafted last year.

Wow, this is why Charlotte is a bad franchise. MKG didn't have the best rookie campaign by any means, but he definitely showed flashes of potential and his skillset is truly unique. He's a guy who you stick with and develop and see truly take off in a few years, not a guy who makes an instant splash in the NBA.

I really hope the rumors are true because I'd love to see MKG in Boston. He's one of those scrappy glue guys every championship team needs.
