Doesn't the media vote?
I'm sure they will give it to tim duncan no matter what
They wouldn't necessarily be wrong to do so.
Duncan's 16/11/2 vs. Green's 18/4/1
Duncan is averaging 2 less points, 7 more rebounds, and 1 more assist per game than Green.
Parker's 16/2/7 while running the offense, Leonard's 12/10/1 while guarding LeBron, and Duncan's 16/11/2 while protecting the rim might all be considered more valuable than Green's 18/4/1.
There are many worthy contenders if the Spurs win. It will likely (and should) come down to who has the better Game 6 (or Game 7) if the Spurs win either of those games. Green's a nice story, but it isn't like Green is putting tremendous distance (or any distance) between himself and Duncan.
I don't know Green is making history and the leading scorer of the team.
Of course you can always make arguements for other players I just think if yiu are watchig the series its hard to argue against Gree n
I wouldn't call it particularly hard to argue against Green after the first 5 games. I think I just did, in fact. He wasn't exactly in Jordan in 93, Duncan in 03, or Bird in 86 territory. Even if he was in the lead for MVP after 5 games, it was the most tenuous lead in Finals history.
I am watching the series and see that Green is only scoring 2 points more per game than Duncan after the first 5 games, not exactly dominating him in that regard. I also wouldn't say the leading scorer is always the most valuable player in a given series.
Duncan outrebounds him by plenty, has more assists, and plays better defense. When watching the game, try to watch the rebounding and defense too, not just the highlight reel 3 pointers.
Anyway, it's a moot point since Green won't even be the leading scorer after tonight's game. After tonight's game, Duncan will have more points, rebounds, assists, blocks, and better defense than Green. If the Spurs win, Duncan is practically a lock now unless Parker goes off in the second half.
