Kevin as well. Would you only trade KG for a top five and Pierce a top ten. Where is your value on the Legends at this point. Don't worry about the other sides perspective, just yours.

Top 15-ish in the 2014 draft.

I wouldn't go after a pick in this draft.  Really not crazy about the talent coming out this year.

I mean, who would we get?  Bennett or Shabazz or Alex Len?  All of these guys scream D League to me.  The only picks that are worth having really are 1-3 and then the rest just feel like lottery tickets.

None in this draft, though I would consider a top 10 pick from next year`s draft, (for each) and expiring contracts enough to get a max level free agent

The correct is answer is any pick in either the first or second round. Why? Because it's not the player we get from the draft pick, it's about the trade exception that would be created from trading Pierce to a team with the available cap space to absorb his entire contract. So with the trade exception then at our disposal, we would then have slightly over 15m to sign any free agent this summer. Or we could split it over 2 players.

Maybe even just top 4.

If he gets dealt nothing other than an established big makes sense to me.

There are some guys in this draft that will have better careers than PP will the rest of his career.   I think PP is better when you take the sum of his career but old man PP will easily be bested by several of these rookies.   I don't think they will have the careers that PP had but to think some of these guys won't score 10,000 points and I doubt PP has 10,000 points left in him.

Pretty much any pick.  It is time to clear the slate and start over.  If this year showed anything it is that PP and KG have nothing left in the tank and the team won't be competing for a title without significant major roster changes, which likely can't happen with them on the team.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Danny would be a real hero if he could pull that one off.

It really depends on what the salary coming back is.  If we are taking back bad salary, then it needs to be a high pick.  If we are taking back decent players on one year deals, then late lottery would do (for example, I would strongly consider Pierce for Marion, Carter, and the Mavs pick, because Marion is still a decent player, and Marion and Carter would both be movable contracts at the deadline).  And if you could trade him to get a trade exception (I actually don't think there are any options for that out there, but if I missed one...), then a mid to late first rounder could do.

Very true.

At this point, getting a 1st round pick for either Pierce or Garnett would be a coup.

The Celtics have to look at things in terms of where they will be 3-4 years from now.  A first round pick is likely to have some value to our team 3-4 years from now, whether it's that player specifically or the person they bring back in a trade.

Pierce is likely to be retired at that point.
