Trade Idea: Fab Melo for Tony Wroten

Doesn't really make sense.  Both players are projects, and neither player is a guarantee to pan out.  The Celtics have greater need for a backup center and the Grizz have more need for a backup point.  So who really benefits in this trade? 

Whichever team gets the guy that actually pans out, assuming one of them does and the other doesn't.

Kinda early to say who that's gonna be, though.

Put it this way -- if Danny wanted Wroten he would have drafted him at 22 last year in the first place.

I like it.

I think Wroten can be a very solid backup PG and a decent to good defender because he has the physical tools. He's a much better prospect to me than Fab.

Doubt Memphis will do it though.

Guys, the team invested a 1st round pick in Fab.  He spent the year playing in the D-league.  The fact that he was a project was not a surprise to the team.

It makes absolutely no sense to dump him now.  They have to give him at least one more season to develop and see where he's at a year from now.  Even then, unless he's not come anywhere in his time year, it doesn't make sense to get rid of him.

Avery Bradley didn't have a much more promising first season than Fab did.  Would it have made sense for the team to dump him for a 2nd rounder after one season?  Obviously not.
