Through the draft, through FA, through europe we need to stop adding anymore finesse, non physical players and instead add players that don't mind/thrive in physical play (center to pg)
When i look at what Indiana did to NYN in game 1, the #1 thing i thought was, how come we weren't even 50 percent that physical? Hibbert was happy to battle Chandler down low, David West just roughed up Anthony on both ends, Stephenson was physical on JR Smith etc.
New york before the half finished was in foul trouble. A nice little comeback in the end, but by the third the game was pretty much over.
Lets rewind to the 2008 celtics team. This team had skilled guys like Rondo, Ray Allen, Pierce but also blue collar players in James Posey, Pj Brown, Tony Allen, Glen Davis, Sam Cassel.
Forward to 2012 celtics team and the most physical player that is capable of making an impact for the team is oldtime leader kg. Pierce pretty physical back in the day reverted to being more of a jump shooter. Jeff Green finesse, Bass looks like a beast but is not that physical, AB is physical but for some reason wasn't until the 4th quarter of the last game. Lee kind of soft , jason terry jump shooter.
So for 2013-2014 season unless you get a complete stud finesse scoring machine, we have to get two or three players that will battle down low like perk/sully, players that will post up and bang their way to the basket for buckets, players that are fearless and will drive in able to draw foul or finish on contact.
