Pierce Option

If the Celtics don't pick up the option, which I don't think they will, can they still bring Pierce back on a cheaper contract? Or they can't bring him back once they buy him out? I would love to see him back at 5 million off the bench and retire a Celtic, I still think he can play in a limited role of the bench with Green starting.
