This is why I love the Captain. He knows his legacy as a Celtic is sealed forever and he knows if his being traded or coming off the books makes the team better, then the team has to do it and he's professional enough to understand. He's making it clear that his heart is in remaining a Celtic and will end his career a Celtic, but if making the Celtics better means he has to go, he okay with that.

Besides, the Truth knows it will probably make being a part of a championship team again for Pierce a real possibility, which I am sure would be alright with Mr. Pierce.

Yeah, agree. I really don't think Pierce would mind being traded to a contender if KG retires. He knows he only has another year or two left and I am sure he wants to compete at the highest possible level for those two remaining years.

Now, if KG returns for one more year -
We get another good draft pick
Rondo and Sully come back healthy
We use our mid level on one legit big man to help KG
I still believe that team could seriously compete for  a title

You then let Pierce and KG retire at the end of next season - start rebuilding in earnest with cap space and a solid young core.
