Unfortunately, once Rondo went down, I didn't think this team was going far in the playoffs. So a quick exit because Sullinger went down, KG hurt his foot, many players in the C's rotation have been horrible offensively, and because without Rondo, this team didn't have anyone else with enough talent to jump start this team and carry them come the playoffs.

Pierce can't anymore, not under NBA playoff pressure and with only limited surrounding talent. KG hasn't been that guy offensively since Minnesota. Terry hasn't shown he is capable of being "2011 NBA playoffs" Jason Terry. Green isn't that guy. No one else has ever shown themselves to be remotely close to being that type of player.

Doesn't change my mind--would've traded KG and PP back at deadline. Sentimentalists got their way and hoping they're enjoying our galactically inept playoff exhibition! Seriously, though, not really blaming fans for going into a fight leading with their heart.  Guess I just faced reality sooner than later. Anyway---on to a plan for next season!

KG-think he will retire, but if not ask him to be a big man,player-coach, with reduced non starter minutes. Love to keep him around for his influence on the young guys. Otherwise, tell all teams, first 1st round draft pick with expiring gets him.

PP-he's not worth 15 mil as a player anymore, but would like to keep him , also in a diminished role, and at alot less money(don't know sal/capology and what is and isn't possible) Otherwise tell teams 1st round draft pick and expiring gets him.

RR and Sully--trade both, damaged goods, and RR won't want to stay for another rebuild. Bad backs never get better!

JT-first 2nd round pick gets him.

CW-waive
Fab-waive,----bust
DJ-waive

TW,Shav--I'd keep around. Have some value, if only for end of bench. Have some potential though, and still young.

JC-still immature, but time on his side. Reminds me of young Jamal C.

Blur--waive, damaged goods

CL,BB--keep, good backups,not starters
AB-keep,ditto, good backup, not starter

JG-is only young starter quality player on our team. Keep as future core player.

So, you have JG, and through trades/draft need C,PF,SG, and PG.

And the rebuilding begins. We'll be a lottery team next year in a supposedly good draft. Maybe pick up a couple of extra picks this year. Would have been much farther ahead of this with trades of PP and KG, but----we have got to see them working their magic against the Knicks!!!

Unless KG retires, I am opposed to blowing up things in Boston until Rondo plays some regular season games and can be evaluated.

this pretty much explains how I feel too.

Not easy to dismiss one of the greatest players to ever play the game.

I support KG if he decides to make another run.

Jet needs to "DISAPPEAR"  , and we need a decent big to play 25 minutes a game while KG sits.

The celtics are missing their top player in Rajon rondo...I didnt expect them to go far in the playoffs without a guy who can average nearly a triple double in the playoffs..

Rondo carried the team at times in the playoffs. right now you are relying on a 35 year old pierce to do that.

until we see how they play with rondo I wouldnt make any harsh judgements...just like I wouldnt make any with the Bulls who are playing without their top player in Derrick Rose

No Rondo so I realistically wasnt expecting a ton. The only thing that will change for me is the fact that Paul and KG need help. Depends on what they show us in the next few games, but they looked exhausted come 4th quarter in the previous two games.

Whether it's from the Draft or FA, we need someone who can be mentored by the two leaders and help right away  for ONE FINAL STAND next year, with Rondo.

So I guess my outlook will change, but a little.

Regardless of the outcome, the Knicks reminded me of something we crucially lack: gritty vets like Kidd and Kmart (I cringe when I say that, but there it is).

Nah. I would still like to see this core group with few roster change and rotations.

- Less plays for PP and KG. They should not be the 1st/2nd option on offense anymore. Run the offense through Rondo and Green. I think Pierce will be effective as a 6th man.

- Needs to acquire a big in the offseason. If either we can sign Oden to a cheap deal and pray for his health or grab Josh Smith for a sign and trade. 6-9 mil/yr would be a reasonable price for Smith if he is willing. Lee/Terry/Bass + filler would be a good trade.

- If Doc is still too stubborn to run the old plays, we should either fire him or find players that are similar to his old pieces. Someone that would fit to his system. But the problem is who. Many players struggled mightily in his system.

Who said I'm obsessed with Smith? So you think Bass/Terry/Lee + filler isn't a good trade for Smith? Like it or not, he is one the best option available in FA next year. Maybe Big Al too. I know he chuck too many jumpers but I think Doc would discipline him if he gets too happy with it. A frontcourt of KG/Smith will be good defensively.

I'd rather explore if Elton Brand will end up being available for the MLE than trying to deal for Smith.  Rondo and Sullinger back plus signing Brand would make me feel pretty comfortable for next season.

Can't we just get him for Bass and filler?

If by filler, you mean Shavlik Randolph, then I am sure Danny Ferry says yes.

I think it would be better for the franchise that we lose in 4 or 5 games against the Knicks since such a scenario would kind of give DA the green light to get into major moves. Whereas winning the series (which is still possible, if the team suddenly starts to play for 48 minutes, even if it seems unlikely).

I don't like the idea of blowing it up just for the sake of it : reshuffling the roster with a few interesting tweaks would be great but we would have to be very lucky to follow that course. And I think it would be a trap to use KG and Pierce as centerpieces again. In order to improve, the team simply has to let these two go.

. . . .

Also, from an emotional standpoint, I would prefer that KG retires instead of watching him play like a ghost as he currently does.

This is all spot on.
