Wait, can a player get his jersey retired by two teams? (I'd think it's been done before?)

One would think the Wolves would retire their best player's jersey; The Franchise was the best player in the franchise, ever.

Ditto.

Probably, both.  Wyc indicated that both KG and PP should be retired in green.

Both for sure.  Arguably the best PF of all time, best player in T Wolves history and won a ring in Boston.

I think KG has been the heart and face of this C's championship era.  His number will absolutely be in the rafters.  Pierce's number would have been retired regardless of this run (as long as he remained a Celtic).

The tougher question is whether Ray's number would have been retired had he stayed.  I think if he had stayed this year and next #20 would have been in the rafters. No chance now, and I doubt he cares -- he's had and will have plenty of accolades.

It's interesting that he probably won't have his number retired by any team though.

On topic, the Timberwolves are definitely going to retire his number, and I would be surprised if the Celtics didn't.

  • Everyone's excited for the new era.
Whenever a team improves by 44 wins and wins the title the year you get there, you deserve to have your number retired.

Whenever you make Minnesota a legitimate contender, you deserve to have your number retired.

This shouldn't even be a question.

KG is an all time great he deserves to have his number retired by both teams. I wish he didn't get injured and was able to get his 2nd ring in '09, injuries stink.
