With the way the Celtics roster looks, it doesn't seem like we can just cram Green into our starting line up even though it seems to be a popular opinion right now. However, what if we played him off the bench in a JR Smith type of role? If I know the Knicks as well as I think I do, JR normally comes off the bench, plays a lot of minutes, and takes a lot of shots. As wild as he is, he's won them quite a few games. Green has a higher potential on offense and plays MUCH better defense, so what if we ran the offense through him in the second unit? Sorry that this is a wall of text/rant, the idea just hit me and I wanted to see what people thought.

Can't we just bring Gerald Green back?

He's better than JR and doesn't shoot as many shots (luckily).

He can be our poor man's LeBron James.

JR also loses them games.

Since Jeff Green's game is nothing like JR Smith's game, there really is no point in comparing them just because they are both 6th men.
