I think we'll try to run more, but I don't think we'll be a running team. We're not a fast paced offense if we don't get something on the break or in semi-transition.
I think we will be a running team. We just won't crash the boards much on offense since we are big on getting back on defense and we will take our time in the half court.

We can be a running team while also having a slow pace by:

1. Pressure on the primary ball handler and tight defense that takes opposing teams deeper into the shot clock
2. Taking time in the half court when the break isn't there.

Fast pace is different from being a running team. Phx was fast pace team when they couldn't run because they wanted to shoot withing 8 seconds, even in the halfcourt.

If Sully starts beasting people, then I could see us running less.

This sounds about right.  I still see the Celtics as primairily a half court team but they will run more than we have seen in the past few seasons because of the horses they have now.

Celtics are clearly better offensively this year. More weapons , older ROndo, younger legs.

The Celtics do a GOOD job of the fast break as they several guys that can finsh now and the whole team is playing unselfish ( now that Jamar Smith and XMAS ) are gone .

Having a deep bench is a weapon in itself,  if a team keeps its first team in , we just run and run more with fresh legs .   Kobe is becomming more human and seems to tire at least a little now. So the deal maybe to run the lakers to death . Problem is LBJ never seems to tire.  :-\
not much we can do to contain a 260 pound guy that jumps like a deer and never tires.

Was just watching some Rondo playoffs highlights (from 2012), and I couldn't count the number of times a highlight started with Rondo screaming up the floor alone.  Honestly, it seemed like every other clip began with Rondo alone in transition waiting for a trailer.

Well, those days are over.  I'm not sure that we will be a running team per se, but that's just b/c Rondo is so smart that our style of play will shift constantly depending on matchups and situation.  Now that we have so many , Rondo's intelligence-- and, of course, Doc working his magic with the lineups-- will craft a very balanced attack, one that can be lightning fast up the floor or slow and calculated.

Having a speedster who can get to the rim as quickly as Lee can, it opens up so much for a team: transition 3's through the roof for Pierce and Terry; wide open lanes for Rondo; and most importantly- free throws galore.

I think Doc will really push to be a running team this year. It behooves us to speed up the pace as much as possible when we're trying to get so many offensive role-players & shooters (Terry, Lee, Barbosa, Green, Bass, Wilcox) shots.

Very similar to what the Spurs have done to their offensive philosophy, when their supporting cast shifted from stationary types like McDyess, Jefferson and Bogans who were valued more for their spot up shooting and defensive execution than offensive dynamism, to the likes of trigger-happy Gary Neal, a run & jump guy like Kawhi Leonard, Danny Green, Boris Diaw and Tiago Splitter.

That looks quite a bit like the shift from a tight rotation of slower, half-court guys like Ray/Daniels/Baby/Perk to an overflowing rotation of offensive specialists like Terry/Lee/Barbosa/Green/Bass/Wilcox no?

With our depth it would be stupid to sit back and play a half court offense. We need to run the other teams starters off the court so that we can let our second team decimate their bench. No team can match our depth and very few can match our speed.
