The los angeles Lakers have a starting five that is 162 years old ( 32,4 years average) and that starting five is making 82,544,469 dollars!

I know these are talented players and sometimes its better to be old and talented than young and less talented but my god 82 million dollars over 5 players?! ???

Why did they have a lockout? seriously?

Dr. Buss is just trying to surround Kobe with the talent he believes will give Kobe the best shot at his 6th ring.

I believe OKC could expose them - as long as Westbrook brings it defensively. And Den? With Ty Lawson, Iguodala :o, McGee, Faried, Galinari, and Co? Den now has the leadership and pure athleticism to give LA problems, too.

Lakers had better not sleep on them, either.

It seems that most of the media is ignoring what you posted about LA's collective age, unfortunately - but it's true.

It just shows some of the bias, IMO, that goes with BOS-LA. BOS's been "Old" for the last few years, lol...and now, all of a sudden - that word is glossed over in LA.

It's all good.

Just make sure you have your popcorn ready If/When their season doesn't go as planned, and DH departs. While all appears good in LA "right now"....there are certainly risks involved with what they are doing.

Yeah, its interesting about the age thing, I wonder if we will hear any more of that "old celtics" next season considering that the celtics are now younger than both the heat and the lakers as a team.

FWIW:

Boston's starting 5 (w/Lee at SG):  149 yrs old
w/Avery at SG:  145 yrs old (he'll be 22 in Nov)

Our 15 man roster should have a median age of 26.
NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

Unfortunately being "old" doesn't mean the Lakers will not be really good.  We as Celtics fans should know that better than anyone since we've been called old for years now and the C's have still been pretty darn successful.  Plus, 4 out of the 5 "old" Lakers starters are still playing at a very high level.  Steve Nash averaged 13 & 11 last season and had a PER of 20.29 (good for 36th in the entire league.) Pau Gasol averaged 17 & 10 last season and had a PER of 20.51 (good for 32nd in the entire league.) Kobe averaged nearly 28, 5 & 5 last season and had a PER of 21.95 (good for 17th in the entire league.) And finally Dwight Howard averaged 20 & 14.5 & 2 blocks and had a PER of 24.29 (good for 6th in the entire league.)  As a reference the Celtics only had 2 players in the top 50 in the league in PER, KG being our highest ranked at 20.47 (good for 34 in the league.)

You could argue that their stars might not get along or that Dwight might be injured for most of the year.  You could even argue that they'll never succeed with Mike Brown as their coach, but you can't say that the Lakers aren't stacked with talented players and poised for a great deal of success.  I want them to lose as much as the next Celtics fan, but the likelihood is that they're going to be really good next year.  >:(

You're absolutely right, that's a lot of money for just 5 players.  TP.

Makes me glad the Celtics have been so fiscally responsible.

That's why it was stupid.  You can punish behavior all you want that's not gonna stop people from doing it if it's worth it.  Increasing the tax only made big market teams MORE powerful.  And will probably result in less competition as teams are encouraged to stay UNDER the cap to reap this extra revenue.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Lakers could be scary good this season.  I already know they're going to be a handful in 2k13.

But they have a lot of risks in that lineup.  How much did the PHX training staff have to do with Nash remaining relevant over the past few years?  How much will Dwight's back issues affect his performance going forward?  How will Dwight mesh with Kobe?  Kobe with Nash?  Will Kobe finally start to really decline?
We need not to be let alone. We need to be really bothered once in a while. How long is it since you were really bothered? About something important, about something real?
