This kid has a youtube channel. Here's a different encounter where the officer lacked reasonable suspicion:

That cop handled the situation correctly, as well.

He checked the guy out, because he "wanted to make contact".  I don't have a problem with a cop asking questions and checking out a potential threat.

If anything, I think he would have had reasonable situation to detain the guy and to check out the weapon.  If he thought it looked like the gun had a silencer, he could have checked it out, rather than taking the guy's word for it.

I watched a few videos on his page (which I kind of feel bad about, because he has ads in the beginning of his videos which mean he's trying to get paid off this in addition to whatever his point is, not that there's anything wrong with that, but don't won't to support this guy), but it seems like a lot of the cops know who he is.  They've probably all been warned at the station about this guy, lol.  It looks like he has a hundred videos up so I don't know about all of them, but a couple of the most recent ones he posted that I watched, the cops definitely knew who he was.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Just because you have the right to do something does mean you should.   This kid is trying to get famous as you suggest.   I don't think he is going to make it on his wits or looks or that voice.   I worry the bozo may try to act out at some point when all these videos fail and get his 15 minutes of fame.

I thought a barrel shroud was to protect the operator, not the gun.  Used for rapid or sustained fire (aka machine guns) when the barrel becomes too hot to handle.

The fact that he has it on a semi tells me he bought/modified the gun to look as much like an automatic rifle or SMG as possible.  If he doesn't even know what type of mods are on his weapon, he probably doesn't have enough training with it either.

The fact that the first thing out of his mouth was to try and tell the officer where he should park during a stop tells me he's not all there.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Barrel shroud don't really work that well on full auto weapons.    They still get a wee bit hot to handle.   I was in the army and shot the M-60 a lot when I was in.   Barrel shroud or no it gets hot and you better have a mit.

Is Ohio a shall issue start for conceal carry? Just want to point out (regardless of this kid) that in plenty of places open carry is always lawful de facto, but conceal carry requires permitting (sometimes at the arbitrary whim of a local police chief with tough standards for judicial review.) So for everyone in thread against open carry, here's a hypothetical:

would you favor a reversing that?

On another note, I have no problem with police patrolling and talking with a kid like this. Saying hey - I see you carrying, what's going on? etc. I prefer that vastly than them "generating revenue" by enforcing our silly speed limit laws for example.
