Joseph was playing with a major chip on his shoulder. He knew it was make or break; but he still played within the game and contributed with a good all around game. If he can get some of his swagger back he will be able to contribute - maybe not consistently; but he will be a solid reserve player in in a year or two. Marquis Daniels with a shot.

It's not even close; 10-11 was much deeper than 12-13.  If not for injuries that was a title team.  You also had a younger Pierce and KG; and in regards to Rondo he's more or less on the same level of play between those years.

despite being older, I would say KG NOW is better than he was in 10-11...I remember alot of people saying he was done that year. while last year he really had a rejuvination of sorts

the problem was, as deep as that 10-11 team was on paper, it never reached its potential because it was soo injury prone. Shaq/Delonte played great..When healthy. but they gave us maybe 30games or so..

the 12-13 bench at least looks to be more durable...Terry, Lee, Green really havent been injury prone much in their careers(knock on wood)

  • Everyone's excited for the new era.
For everyone who is making the argument that the 10-11 team was better if not for injuries, I agree.  This comparison is based on how the teams look ON PAPER.

Personally, when I heard we got Shaq, I thought, "Man, this is going to be fun!"  And for the first two months of the season, it was.  We were the beasts of the East, and the Shamroq's play really elevated the Big 4.

That being said, I think the youth of this year's team is key.  Bradley, Lee, Sully, Green, and Wilcox are going to be crucial to our run this year.  That is why I gave this year's team an 8-7 matchup advantage.  The players on the 10-11 team were great, but I've got this feeling that we are going to be watching a special team this season!

I don't know, I guess on paper the '10-'11 team was stronger, especially near the top, but I have more confidence in this year's team.

The team a few years ago had a lot of question marks. Perk was rehabbing a major injury, KG was coming off a subpar season, Shaq was pushing 40 (years) and 400 (pounds), and JO was JO. Delonte was coming off legal trouble and Wafer was a questionable fit as well.

I liked Ainge's summer that year, but he went high risk/high reward. We saw both ends. To see that team falter was ultimately unsurprising despite how good we looked for first third/half of the season.

This year, we have players who have defined roles (I don't think we have JO-esque role problems) and are younger and more versatile. I feel we are more likely to overcome injuries, because most of our players can play multiple positions (of our top 10, only Rondo and Bass are the only players I am not comfortable with at 2 different positions).

KG looks re-energized, Rondo looks like an MVP (at times), Terry is the 6th man we haven't had since Posey, Green can finally take pressure off Pierce, and we have a great blend of defense and shooting.

Less than 2 months until training camp opens, can't wait.

10-11 team was stronger starters , Big three were younger and predictable stats. With 2-3 good backups to the starting rotation.

12-13 Is deeper IMO....If Pierce , KG , Bass , Green and Rondo are all 100% , then add the rest of the with AB , JET ,  LEE,  Wilcox and Sully/Melo is GREATER from top to bottom than the 10-11 .

Question is can Pierce , Green , Bradley come back from injuries and produce at a high level.

Somehow I think Wilcox is gonna be an ace in the hole,  with his mobile size.  He had it going last year before his heartbreaking news. All his nagging shoulder injuries and such will be healed, with new diet , outlook and energy...might be fun to watch.
