I am puzzled at why Minn at to give away a 1st just to get rid of W.Johnson. This guy was a consensus high pick and was selected 4th. He doesn't have a giant contract and yet Minn had to pay heavily to give him away. Does anyone know about any personality issues, etc. The fact is he playing out of position. He is a natural 3 and it seems a little early for no one to want him at all.

There was a spot of hope when he went off against the Lakers, but other than that, he's been awful. Averaged 9ppg a game his first season and 6ppg last season, those are not acceptable numbers for a player that you hope will be a part of your future.

Wesley Johnson is below average in almost every statistical category.

His true shooting percentage is 48.6%; the average for his position is 53.7%. Below average from beyond the arc, from the free throw line, and everywhere else on the floor.

His PPS is 1.02; the average is 1.20.

He doesn't score much (15 points per 48 minutes, compared to the positional average of 20). He can't rebound (5.7 per 48 minutes, compared to the average 7.3). He's not a good passer (2.8 assists per 48 minutes, compared to the average 3.4). Fouls and steals are both below average, and he turns the ball over too much.

The only major statistical category in which he is NOT below average are blocks, and by a thin margin.

So, he's not a terrible player. There is just nothing he particularly excels at, and is below average at every other facet of the game.

Too passive -- there is some talent there. Just not assertive enough on the court.

I have always been slow in throwing talent under the bus unless there is a personality issue. Particularly when the guy is playing out of position. It is too easy for a young guy to turn it around. We will see what happens with a new team. It is one thing to say a guy is way below expectations. It is another to give a first round pick just to get rid of him. Normally that is reserved for high priced players.
