Am i crazy to think the celtics have built enough assetts to trade for Howard

I think something like this would be very enticing to orlando, even more so then Bynum

Avery Bradley
Fab Melo
Jeff Green
1st round pick
1st round pick
Jared Sullinger to another team that sends a player to orlando they want

Celtics could then have this lineup

Howard
Garnett
Pierce
Lee
Rondo

Terry
Bass
Wilcox
Pietrus, signed back
Christmas
Dooling

If Orlando is truly taking the path similar to that of OKC, then this package seems to be attractive. If Dwight doesn't like the idea of playing for us then we can trade him for Bynum. Our second unit though would need a lot of beef in the PF and C positions. Bass, Collins and Wilcox wouldn't just get it done.

Why wouldnt Bass Wilcox and collins be enough?

the celtics would have Howard and Garnett as starters downlow, Howard would eat close to 40 minutes per game at center(35 mpg at least) and kg about 28-30 mpg, that would be the best center pf in the league easily too.

then you have Bass at Backup PF who can play anywhere from 20-30 mpg , he would be a great backup pf

wilcox getting the minutes at center when howard is out

thats pretty solid to me

Offensive fire power is lacking for the second unit bigs. Sure, Bass could take mid range jumpers and finish strong on the break. Half court offense will have to rely heavily on 1, 2 or 3 spots. Opposing bigs, especially if they are the first stringers and/or are really tall and quick (think of Bynum, Gasol, Bosh, Love, Dirk etc), will outplay them.

i don't know about josh smith, but i wonder if danny would look to trade Avery Bradley at some point, with the guard depth the Cs have.. i hope not because i think he's got a good chance develop into the best of the bunch (other than Rondo)

This is about the only scenario I see as possible.  Now that Lee is locked up for 3 years, and Terry you would think will last 3 years as well, there is actual competition at the SG and backup PG spot.

I wouldn't trade Bradley for anything less than a certified All Start.  AB is that special on the defensive end: he is like Tony Allen except with the scoring ability of an actual SG.

Having said that...our championship capabilities lie in the hands of Rondo and KG.  If at the deadline you can net Josh Smith for Bass plus AB, that is something you have to look at.  I am not saying I am for that deal, but if you insert another certified All Star into a lineup with Rondo, KG, and Pierce, with complementary guys like Lee, Terry, and Jeff Green, you have the makings of an NBA Finals team.

Yes, Danny will engage in trade discussions with other teams, especially as the Feb trade deadline approaches.

Why:

(1) The Cs won't be able to improve in the offseason via FAs given how close to the cap the Cs already are.
(2) Danny believes (and I think he's right) that the best way to put a championship team on the floor is to trade for All Star players. They get the benefit of the doubt from the refs in what is basically a rigged system. He's no dummy, he realizes this.

i never thought about that before - good point.
that belief only really applies to a select handful in the league.  If this applied to All-stars, Wade would have been called for that blatant foul on our All-Star Rondo in Game 2 for example

A deal centered around Jeff Green isn't going to get it done.

Hey buddy you basically copy and pasted my post. It's okay though I'm just saying 1-2 posts up was almost verbatim what you posted.

In response to your point I think the Magic would want to salary dump too, and since I think Turkoglu is a cancer I'd take Richardson (cheaper and better). that would be something like $25M and we could match up with Green [9M], Bass [7M], Lee [5M], and Sully/BAE if the CBA allows that.

I think this is gonna be our team for the first half of the season.  Wait till the trade DL to identify our weaknesses, then make a move to address them.  If Sullinger plays well and AB gets healthy they could become valuable trade chips.  And then Jeff Green's contract might actually be useful to facilitate a trade in order to make salaries match.  But for now I think what we see is what we get.

I'd like to see what this team does first before we cry for trades.

Bradley and Bass are better for the team than Smith right now. You get about 20 to 25 ppg between them both, solid free throw shooters. Bass is light out at 15 feet, and a solid defender that know the system, and AB is a lock down defender that will handle Wade by him self in stead of having to double team him and leave Lebron to go off. And between them its 12 fouls to 6, that means more aggressive defense.

What's your thought on if Bradley were healthy for the Heat series?  Does he push the C's over the top?

I'm expecting a trade involving at least one out of Lee, Green, and Bass in the 2014 off-season.
