People need to remember that Ray was not the Celtics GM. He didn't actively control his own destiny until he became a free agent. Danny controlled his destiny for 99% of his tenure. Now Danny had every right to trade Ray, but if you're going to trade him, get the deal done. I don't know a person on Earth who wouldn't be affected by the thought that their employer wants to get rid of him. And if you're going to keep him, keep him, don't let him get to free agency where you have no control. Danny screwed up both of those mandates. After the trade didn't happen, and Ray let it be known he wanted an extension, why not get it done? Does anyone really think Danny couldn't have gotten a deal done six months ago for far less money than the one he just offered, back when it was clear Ray craved stability? But let's be honest: Danny never wanted to keep Ray until it became his last option, and then only because of the Bird rights when he was out of money to spend. And obviously Ray knew that. So perhaps some of you should extend your apparently infinite capacity to judge to include Ainge. He had multiple opportunities to avoid this train wreck. Or maybe we should just chalk it up to what it is, a complicated tragedy that's not any one person's fault.

i do blame Danny - Ray's blood is on his hands.

Danny doesn't know how to support chemistry and team morale - in fact, he knows very well how to destroy it. i've been against Danny since the Perk trade and this is one more disaster born of Danny's arrogance and stupidity.

having said that, i'm still angry with Ray - even if Danny didn't care, his teammates, Doc and the fans loved him and wanted him back. plus, it's so obvious that he did this to stick it to the Celtics, or maybe just Danny by signing for less with the Heat and that slimy Pat Riley, who may hate the Celtics more than any man alive.
