Pierce will retire as a Celtic.
Garnett will retire as a Celtic.

I'm guessing a year ago you would've added Ray Allen to that list. Things change.

Pierce probably makes more basketball sense, but Rondo might be easier to see elsewhere.

What if ORL calls and wants KG and AB mid season for Dwight?

Would you do that?

I wouldn't make this trade either. Trading Rondo is the worst idea possible.

As an aside, that line-up does sound pretty sick: Rondo-Bradley-Green-KG-Howard. Still wouldn't do it.

But... don't you think Danny would? With his mindset, and considering how much he loves and is investing in Green, I don't know that I'd be surprised to see him move Paul to get that done. In some ways, I think he's a great GM. In others, I think he's awful. Lucky to have Doc around to create that family-oriented atmosphere and maintain trust in the locker room.

Chris Paul has been in the league for 7 years and he's never been on a contending team. How would signing him make a team an instant contender?

This has everything to do with Chris Paul's abilities and absolutely nothing to do with the garbage he's been surrounded with over the years.

Give up Rondo for a one year rental of Dwight/CP3? WHAT COULD POSSIBLY BE THE DOWNSIDE OF THAT!?

So you're saying that trading for CP makes a team instant contenders?

Also, doesn't landing a guy like Paul OR Howard make you an instant championship contender this year?

We are already a championship contender, no?

Even if neither guy resigns after this season, think of the cap space the Celtics will have next year.

Not sure about you, but I am tired of seeing their cap space tied up in the same guys these last 5 years.

I know the Hornets weren't interested in Rondo but imagine him and Griffin playing side by side. I bring up Chris Paul because he'll be a free agent next year and didn't accept a contract extension offered by the Clippers.

As for Dwight Howard, if the Celtics could land him without giving up Rondo, the Celtics become signficiantly better than Miami.

A lineup of Rondo, Terry/Bradley, Green, KG/Bass and Dwight is better than LBJ, Wade, Bosh, Chalmers and Anthony (IMO.)

And what makes you think this is possible?

pierce, yes
kg, yes
rondo....i dont think he will.  i wouldnt be surprised if any of these scenarios happened (traded, demand a trade, walk as a free agent).  it is rare that a player starts and ends with the same team these days.
