Obviously Bass is more talented and better than any of Melo/Greg/Random sign and trade or free agent we can pick up at this point.   But is starting him the right choice?  Obviously having two good shooting bigs on the floor really paid dividends for Rondo this past season, but it also put a massive toll on KGs body who has made it clear he loathes playing the five.  Not only that, but Bass is best suited as a guy off the bench giving us points.

Should Bass be starting at the 4 with KG at the 5?  Should we put KG in his comfort zone, and bolster our bench with Bass, but spot an inferior player at the 5?

A bench that has Terry, Bass and Green is already an elite bench.  That is three players that could score 10-20 every night (maybe a little optimistic for Green).   Having KG and Pierce play limited minutes this season will be crucial, so Green and Bass are going to see a lot of floor time one way or another, but what would be the best course of action regarding our bigs?

Starters:
Rondo / Bradley / Pierce / KG / Melo
Bench:
Terry / Pietrus / Green / Bass / Hollins

Or

Starters:
Rondo / Bradley / Pierce / Bass / KG
Bench:
Dooling / Terry / Pietrus / Green / Melo

Kevin Garnett is not playing PF. Fab Melo is not starting.

Agreed. Melo is nowhere near ready for prime time - he's a long-term project, guys. And KG at 5 is definitely than KG at the 4. I get the sense that even though KG doesn't like playing the 5, he understands how much better it makes the team.

Honestly, I feel like Jeff Green - as much as I don't like it - will be starting at the 4 on opening night.
