If we could land Coles and the 76ers pick that would obviously be better than losing Ray for zada.

I can understand people not wanting to deal with the cHeat out of principle or bitterness. But if we want to improve our team we have to ignore those emotions and make moves. It's a messy business but priority number 1 should be improving our team strength and our future.

Idea:

Boston sends:  Ray Allen, $1 million
Boston receives: Jason Terry

Miami sends:  Joel Anthony, $3 million
Miami receives: Ray Allen

Dallas sends: Jason Terry
Dallas receives:  Joel Anthony, $4 million

Miami would have to sign Ray for about $3.92 million in the first year to make salaries work, but this would work under the cap.  It would allow both Boston and Miami to preserve their MLEs, and would give Dallas Joel Anthony for free.

We are not so interested in anyone they have except Chalmbers would be nice to replace Bradley until Dec (then trade chalmbers).  Or the s&t could be 3-way to get us OJ Mayo or Courtney Lee.

I don't think we do it for a pick though.  We need a way to get another player this year.

The deal just has to work.  I don't think it matters whether is Miami or Milwaukee.

Like they used to say in the Guinness commercials..

BRILLIANT!

The MLE is more valuable for us than for Miami (by $2m) so we would come out ahead of Miami in this.

Yeah it would a good move and maybe able to afford Mayo or Lee. If Ray has any standers left he'll do what Nash did and get the C's some thing for leaving.

Helps Miami some to so they couldn't complain too much. Having the MLE back would be sweet!

Yeah, if Danny could get the full MLE back, then it's very interesting.

I would want to make sure Danny could net someone very good with it first. Have something lined up prior to agreeing to the trade. Because if he can't, then maybe Boston is better not helping Miami get Camby.

Andrei Kirilenko (as the starting PF instead of Bass) would be my first option. Camby (if Danny can tempt him away from Miami/NYK) or Kaman the second option (as the backup C to Garnett). Maybe Kwame the third (also backup center). I am not really interested in spending the full MLE on another guard/wing because almost all of those minutes at gone already. I don't think that player will make a large enough impact to make it worthwhile for Boston.

just throwing this name out there.

What about Eddy Curry? He has basically been down in Mia attending the Pat Riley Physical Fitness Boot Camp. So its no longer the extremely overweight Eddy Curry. And we are in desperate need for a Big with some experience.

Just a thought.

  • Ashy To Classy, baby.
Avoid Eddy Curry. If we can get Norris Cole or Chalmers, plus the sixers pick, I say go for it.

Is there any chance we can get Camby btw? If we don't do a s&t w/ Miami, they don't get Camby, could he fall into our laps somehow? He apparently wants more money than we can offer I guess?
My pic is now, and will be Fab Melo until he posts his first official NBA dbl-dbl. This may be permanent.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I agree with Roy and Vermont Green. Being able to get a third team involved like Dallas with Terry or Memphis with Mayo would make a whole lot more sense and we wouldn't lose Ray for nothing.

Getting Philly's pick also sounds interesting. I just don't see how Ray takes half of what Boston was offering out of principle alone. I guess this is one of the reasons there are 10 days of discussions before deals begin getting signed.

how is that genius? since when did miami want to get rid of joel anthony? since when did dallas want joel anthony? that trade is a joke.

miami can sign ray allen without getting rid of joel anthony, why would they do it?

Joel Anthony is one the books for nearly 4 million for the next 3 years and sucks at rebounding (9 rebs per 48, average Center gets 13) no thanks, better to let heat pay 10+ million plus per year (when you include luxury taxes) on that one.

I would at least want 2 number one picks, including the philly pick, then I might consider it
