I would do a three year deal with the last two years being non-guaranteed.

If nothing else, later in the year, he can be part of a trade.

Yep, but I think people short change Kristic a bit.  He started for OKC, and immediately jumped into our rotation with us in 2011.  He played well, did a nice job on the offensive board, and gave us some needed size.

He was horrendous defensively either, at least during the regular season.  He then went off of Doc's radar in the Miami series, which I think was a mistake because we could have used his offense.

Kristic fits in nicely with KG and Rondo.  He can body the big guys on D, and space the floor on O.  I'd say he's as talented an outside shooter at the 5 as you will find in the NBA, maybe save for Bosh and KG.

We might as well bring him in.  He certainly can't hurt us.

I would be really happy with Danny going after a bunch of our free agents that we have the bird rights to since that gives us the best shot at some depth without going over luxury tax threshold.  If I understand this all correctly we currently have 10 players adding up to approximately $54.7 million in salary.

Kevin Garnett (approx $11 million)
Paul Pierce (approx $17 mil)
Rajon Rondo ($11 mil)
Brandon Bass (approx $6.2 mil)
Jason Terry ($5 mil)
Avery Bradley ($1.6 mil)
Jared Sullinger (approx $1.3 mil)
Fab Melo (approx $1.3 mil)
JaJuan Johnson (approx. $1.1 mil)
Kris Joseph (approx $500k)

So that leaves us with approximately $19 mil to spend on retaining our own free agents, the decision about whether to pick up Moore's option ($762,195) by July 22nd, and 5 roster spots to fill.  I think Danny should divide up what we have left under the $74 mil cap on the some of the following players:

Jeff Green ($8 million)
Mickaël Piétrus ($3-4 million)
Nenad Krstić ($4 million)
Chris Wilcox ($2 million)
Greg Stiemsma ($1-2 million)

I'm sure some of my estimated value for the players above might be slightly off but in general that's what we should be looking for.  After that Danny still has the bi-annual exception and minimum wage deals to bolster the line-up with free agents from outside of our team if he doesn't like our own free agents.  With our own free agents back our roster would probably look something like:

Guards:
Rondo, Terry, Bradley, Piétrus

Forwards:
Pierce, Green, Bass, Sullinger, Johnson, Joseph

Centers:
Garnett, Krstić, Stiemsma, Wilcox, Melo

I could certainly live with that to start the season, and then we can always look to see what trades are out there to suit our teams needs as the season develops.

And was out of the rotation by the playoffs, replaced by an injured JO.

I haven't seen any reports that Ainge was slightly interested in Krstic.

Maybe he'll be a last minute option. I doubt Krstic really wants to comeback.

Krispy is probably the best option right now.  Not confident C's can sign both Steimsma and Wilcox --> I think each will get at least BAE money and C's don't have Bird rights to either of them to pay both.  At least Krispy allows C's to pick up one of them with the BAE.

I'm not a Kristic fan at all.  Do we really need another big who can't rebound?  But on the other hand if we lose Steimsma he'd make a lot of sense.

I dont know where this misconception about Krstic being a poor rebounder came from, but a lot of people have been saying it.  In recent seasons, and in his season with Boston he was grabbing roughly 8.5 rebounds per 36 minutes, which is very good for a second or third string center.  Granted, he is weak on the defensive boards, but he is actually very strong on the offensive boards.  In his time with boston, he was grabbing 2 a game, or 3 every 36 minutes.  Offensive rebounding is where boston is especially weak, so I think he would be a good asset

I think that he is definitely our best option.  Considering that KG wants more minutes at the 4, Bass will probably get 25-30 at the 4, and Green will also log minutes there when we go small, our need is for a legit Center, not a power forward.  I think Kristic is better than Stiemsma, and is only a year and a bit older.  Wilcox isnt really a center, and has some health risks.  I think priority 1 and 2 (in no order) should be to sign Pietrus and Krstic.  Despite reports that Bradley will be back to start the season, we still need a long SG to deal with players like wade and joe johnson (currently all our SG's are 6"2 and shorter). Also, it looks like we arent bringing dooling back, so unless Moore gets significant minutes at the 1, JT will have to log minutes there, creating a need for Pietrus or another 2 Guard.  I would like to see Melo get minutes ahead of a guy like Krstic, but  he has never played in a man to man system before (syracuase is pure zone).  I think he would be a huge asset at the begining of the season as Melo gets up to speed.

Rondo 34 Mpg / Terry 14 Mpg

Bradley 30 Mpg / Terry 12 Mpg / Pietrus 6 mpg

Pierce 28 Mpg / Green 18 Mpg / Pietrus 2 mpg

Bass 26 Mpg / Sullinger 13 Mpg / Green 9 mpg

Garnett 27 Mpg / Melo 11 Mpg / Kristic 10 Mpg

Total Minutes Per Player:

Rondo 34
Bradley 30
Pierce 28
Green 27
Garnett 27
Terry 26
Bass 26
Sullinger 13
Melo 11
Krstic 10
Pietrus 8

That is a very solid 11 man rotation.  Given Pietrus' proven ability to play the 2, 3 and even the 4 at times, he will be important when the inevitable injuries hit and thus will likely get far more than the 8mpg that have been alotted in this hypothetical rotation.  If Danny can just get Krstic and Pietrus, I would be VERY confident heading into next season.

Seems very reasonable to me but I remember Danny saying Sullinger might see minutes at center as well. I still think Stiemer should come back, as he proved to be a quality back up for KG. Somewhere I read when KG left the floor Stiemer picked up the defense right where KG left off. His blocking abilities will be great for us and to have his size along with Melo is what we need. KG/Stiemer/Melo/Sullinger is a better center rotation IMO. Krstic in my eyes will be lost on defense and KG seems to like Stiemer more.

Rondo/Terry/Moore
Bradley/Pietrus
Pierce/Green/Joesph
Bass/Johnson/Sullinger
KG/Stiemer/Melo

Leave a roster spot open for a free agent in the middle of the season. Either a wing or big man depending on what we need more after seeing what Sullinger and Melo provide for us.

We have a lot of choices here from Terry playing PG and SG to Pietrus playing SG or SF. Green can play both forward positions and KG can play either center or PF. I can only guess what Doc will try out on the floor sometimes with a line up of Rondo, Terry, Pietrus or Pierce, Green and KG at times. So many options for him to choose from that makes us very flexible on offense and defense.
