It's as simple as this, I think. Yea, he could go on to win more championships, and it's going to feel good, [dang] good, but nowhere else will a championship feel more good, or more satisfying than if he gets it with the same team where he won his first championship.
It would mean more, far more, to win at least one more championship with Kevin and Paul. Ray retiring a Miami Heat just doesn't feel right. Look at how close we've come since that first championship. Ray couldn't possibly think that the Celtics aren't serious championship contenders, could he? If Ray chooses the heat, you couldn't blame him for doing so, but I kinda see that decision as the easy way out. I would see this as more of a easy decision to make if Ray didn't already have a championship with the Celtics, with KG and Paul, but he does, and that means something.
Ray couldn't possibly see the Celtics as having no chance at all, because it really doesn't appear to be true in the least. Will winning another ring likely be harder with the Celtics? Yes, it will be, but I've never seen Ray as taking the easy way out. I know he has to feel slighted by the fact that he was almost traded, but if the Celtics are willing to guarantee him that he can't be traded, and put it in writing, why wouldn't he want the opportunity to chase the far more satisfying of the potential championships he can win. A win in Miami wouldn't mean nearly as much as it would in Boston.
Come on Ray!!!! Please stay! I can't believe I'm begging, but I don't give a [dang]. We need ya, man.
