I really believe he's going to leave. Of all the players on this team, my guess is that he feels the least appreciated. This team belongs, in many ways to KG and Pierce, and now Rondo. I'm not sure that Ray and Rondo can co-exist, if all the reports of their fractured relationship are true. Also, Danny already put him on the block, and I think Ray feels a bit slighted by that. This is a business...Ray will do what's in his best interest, not only from a financial standpoint, but possibly in the "I'll prove you wrong" department - in which Miami becomes a strong suitor.
I don't fault Ray for taking his time... But who knows how he reads into this signing of Jason Terry - my guess he'll simply see it as cutting into potential playing time.
Danny will do a fine job of finishing out this roster. I laugh at those who are ALREADY trying to create depth charts for the upcoming season, as if it has to be finalized within the next 48 hours. But I personally believe Ray will leave. And if he does, the Celtics will still survive and Danny will do his due diligence to replace him.
