Quote
John Hollinger (Insider), says the data is clear: it's time to sit Kendrick Perkins. "The Thunder are a fairly strong team when Perk plays with four smalls, outscoring opponents by five points per 48 minutes in both the regular season and the playoffs, but they're an absolutely dominant one with Ibaka and Collison. Plug each of those two into the mix and the Thunder threaten the plus-20 range; they're plus-18.5 to be exact once we combine regular season and playoffs, and that's in a fairly robust 645-minute sample size. That's an enormous shift of more than 13 points per 40 minutes and it raises the question of why the Thunder won't play that way more often. I've argued for them to start games against the Heat with the small lineup and abandon their big unit entirely, and regardless of the opponent I will keep arguing that Ibaka or Collison needs to be the lone big when the Thunder play small."

I stand by my opinion that he will be amnestied by OKC this summer.

Brooks' usage of Perk is killing them.

its not that perk is bad, its that centers in general are not good against the new small/speed teams.

How should he use him?

Against this Heat team I don't see any reason not to have Ibaka/Collison take all but a few of his minutes.

Well that won't happen. Perk has done a great job neutralizing Bosh so far, even outplaying him in game3. I'd like to see them go bigger where Durant does't have to bang inside, or have defend Lebron.

agreed. ibaka playing only 22 minutes is inexcusable.

Yes, agreed. That's what I was getting at. Minutes should be heavily restricted with the vast majority should go to Ibaka and Collison instead.

It's not that Perk is playing badly. He is doing what he is being asked to do to the best of his ability. The problem is that Brooks is asking too much of him (to the detriment of his team). I blame Brooks for that.

I'd also rather see Perk come off the bench than start and use him against Miami's two big man lineups. With Collison replacing him in the starting lineup.

I think the refs will be helping OKC tonight, got to extend the series it is Stern's usual modus operandi.
