There are many on this board that have a lot more information about upcoming free agents and cap space.  I'd like to see what the C's will have available and what realistic free agents might be targeted.  Thanks

We'll have about $25 million in space, assuming we don't amnesty Pierce.

The unrestricted free agent class is pretty weak.  You can find the full list here:  http://www.hoopsworld.com/ranking-the-2012-nba-free-agents

After Deron Williams, there just aren't a lot of unrestricted guys to build around.  Kris Humphries, Steve Nash, Chris Kaman, Antwan Jamison, Nick Young, Spencer Hawes, Lou Williams if he opts out, Gerald Wallace if he opts out.  Not a lot you want to spend big money on.

The restricted class is a bit deeper:  Roy Hibbert, Brook Lopez, Javale McGee, Eric Gordon, O.J. Mayo, Nic Batum, Wilson Chandler, Ryan Anderson, Michael Beasley, Chase Budinger.

well, i for one didnt expect the c's to be in the thick of things next year. you have to go into a rebuild mode a little and acquire some players through the draft/lottery at some point.

i guess they can try some rfa's but most of them will get matched. DA just needs to be careful about handing out contracts in the offseason in order to reach the cap floor. i figure the c's will be bad next year, get a lottery pick, and have some cap space to operate in the 2013 FA season. then we go on from there. and that's assuming nothing big (trades) happens during the draft/this offseason (which may very well happen).

Yeah man, I'm really nervous about this offseason because of all of the money we'll have freed up.  I just don't want us to end up like Detroit and hand out huge contracts to mediocre players (Ben Gordon, Charlie Villanueva).  We spend unwisely, and the rebuild can take A LOT longer than it should.

If there's one thing you can be sure of, it's that Ainge won't fall into that trap.  What has to be decided before anything else is whether KG wants to come back.  It's clear Ray does and he'll probably be willing to take a reasonable contract to stay in Boston.  If KG is willing as well, then you've got a situation where Ainge could sign Kaman or trade or Okafor, resign Bass and Green and you can have a competitive, playoff team for a couple of years while you plan for a big rebuild.  If KG is done, that's a whole 'nother ball of wax.

Definitely a weak class on the unrestricted front. Regarding the restricted list, I can't imagine there's any one player expect maybe Beasley that doesn't get resigned by their current team.
