With all the talk about ideas for trades with Atlanta, I think the one that makes the most sense (in a cold blooded way) is Pierce for Horford.

Start with Atlanta...they have done very well with Smith and Pachulia, while Horford and Johnson are injured. They go from a 7 seed as they are, and add in Pierce for Marvin Williams, and Johnson returns to replace Hinrich. They could be contenders.

For us, it abandons this year. But we get a young, outstanding athletic big who can really play both PF and C. His offensive game should thrive with Rondo the way Shaq's did. Then we try for a max, younger wing player. Much easier to sign or trade for than a big. With a great pick in a deep draft, our 1st round pick(s) may fill that need. Green can be a 6th man, filling in at 2-4 or for those 2's he can guard, he can start and Ray can come off the bench (back on short money).

Let's skip the discussion of whether to trade Pierce or not....that's been done enough lately in other threads.

It'd be a no-brainer for us, but I can't see Atlanta doing this.
2023 Historical Draft: Toronto Raptors

Point Guard: Anfernee Hardaway, Fat Lever, Terrell Brandon
Shooting Guard: Paul Westphal, Paul Pressey
Small Forward: Marques Johnson, Danny Granger
Power Forward: Jermaine O'Neal, Bobby Jones, Kiki Vandeweghe
Center: Marc Gasol, Serge Ibaka

It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Horford is the guy Atlanta wants to build around.  They are not trading him for Pierce.

Some of the Atlanta discussion boards are suggesting that since Smith has been taking over for them, it might be better to trade Horford than Smith.

Take a look at some of the discussions on this board, and then come back and report whether fan forums are a good way to measure what teams should and will do with their roster...

But yeah, it does make sense to trade Horford instead of Smith.  But that is because Horford has greater value.  They would not trade him for a guy like Pierce, they would trade him for a young star.

if they take that deal you sign the dotted line and run to stand to announce it.  Atlanta's GM would be killed.

We'd be more likely to pull J Smoov
