There is a separate thread saying PGs don't lead teams to a championship. I feel position isn't the issue. The issue is that it is harder for short players to be all time greats. It is harder for shorter players to dominate games and take over consistently and efficiently. Someone like AI can take over, but not efficiently. Perhaps if he was surrounded by as much talent as Isiah, he would have 2 rings.

When guys are as good as the all-time greats, a few inches can really bring them to a new level.

Well, like I posted in the other thread - 6'1" Rajon Rondo was CLEARLY the best player on the floor for us in the 09-10 playoffs and ALMOST brought us Banner 18...

And it wasn't his fault alone that we lost to LA.

But he would've garnered serious MVP discussion if we would've won it all.

He was very close to averaging a triple double the entire playoffs.

Mike Bibby, a 6'2" point guard, almost beat the Lakers by himself in 2002. It's only the combined game 7 choking of Webber, Stojakovic, & Turkoglu,  which costed them a title with a majority of the goat being Webber.

Why blame the guy that went for 20/8/11 on 43% and yet credit the guy that went for 29/5/4 on 44% shooting.  Hedo didn't shoot much but was 57% in game 7.  Now Peja and Christie are a different matter.  They were both downright awful in game 7.

I'm not sure 'almost' says much to respond to the main idea. Those 'almost' players it seems were not enough, and that is the point.

I also don't think single series are the point. If it were, then we would have the obvious example of Parker making this discussion silly since we know that the Spurs revolved around Duncan, not Parker.

Even if he was surrounded by great talent, they undoubtedly lead the Detroit Pistons to two championships. So, Joe Dumars and Isaiah Thomas disagrees on this thread. And speaking of the Pistons, Chauncey Billups disagrees as well.

While there were other players around him, I would believe that Isiah Thomas pretty much led the Piston to their two championships in the late 80's early 90's.  Can't believe I said that after what he said about Larry Legend.  What a fool he was!

Rondo may have been the best player but not clearly at all. I think all the big 4 were huge that playoffs. Also if.we beat LA Rondo prob want getting mvp either
I thought Rondo regressed as the aeries went on playing worse against orlando and then worse against LA
