Looks to be done now - Stein is reporting Wolves wouldn't offer a fifth, so Love signs for 4 w/ an opt out after 3. Love will sign after shoot aroun.

I'd link it, but it's on his twitter and I only have access on phone.

Think it's a poor decision by Love, personally.
I disagree, it protects him from injury which is of paramount importance. Just look at Brandon Roy after all. Playing for the QO is such a huge risk.

The opt out gives him leverage to get out sooner or get another contract right as he'll hit his absolute peak.

It's smart for both parties, since this gives them room to make a new deal with Love, before they have to extend Rubio and Williams. Meaning Love is still their no. 1 guy, just not designated yet.

It's not smart from the T-Wolves side, because you just don't toy around with players of Love's caliber.

What you do...do, is give him the max right away.

Would you still disagree if he accepted 4/40mil?

He's 23. In 4 years, he'll hit it big again at the ideal FA age. Good for him and Minny.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

Yes, because then he'd be accepting far less than market value for a big man of his caliber. At that point he'd be better of playing out this year and signing a max offer sheet from a team with cap space. (Like DeAndre Jordan did, in fact Jordan did sign for 4/43 Love is worth more clearly)

Derrick Rose recieved 94.8 million dollars over five years, the absolute max under the CBA as I understand it. Thats 19 million per year for five years.

Westbrook recieved 80 million over give years, so thats 16 million per annum.

Love should be looking at a per year pay of at least 15 million. (so 60 million over four years)

He will opt out more then likely after three years. So 26 he can sign a 4-5 year deal and likely do so again at 30 or 31. Intelligent guy getting the opt out.

The talk of signing Kevin Love was moot the moment he was born into the Laker family.

Agree, he was not coming here regardless.
