Dirk Nowitzki $20,907,128

Lamar Odom $8,200,000
Quote
Final year is only $2.4 million guaranteed but will increase to fully guaranteed if not waived on or before June 29th 2012
Shawn Marion $8,396,364
Quote
Contract contains performance bonuses, $546,517 of which currently listed as "likely." Also has a 15% trade kicker.
Brendan Haywood $8,349,000
Quote
Final season is completely unguaranteed if waived on or before August 1st 2015. Contract contains performance incentives currently listed as unlikely.
Vince Carter $3,090,000
Quote
Both of the last two seasons are only $2 million guaranteed, but both become fully guaranteed if Carter is not waived on or before June 30th 2012. Contract also contains 10% trade kicker.
Rodrigue Beaubois  $2,227,333

Dominique Jones $1,276,560

If they are going after both Howard and Deron here's what they should do:

Not waving Odom and leaving $2.4 million on their cap but letting him become fully guaranteed and trading him to the Kings who are under the cap and getting a trade exception and a pick.

Shawn Marion IMO is most likely to be amnestied because he has a 15% trade kicker and shouldn't take up cap space.

Brendan Haywood after looking at his contract is not that awful, he is owed $27 million for the next 3 years, and the final year is non guaranteed making him a cheap center and he is tradable, otherwise you could amnesty him instead of Marion.

Vince Carter will likely be waived as I don't see a team willing to take him on but you never know, so that's a $2 million cap hit if he is waived.

Finally they would have to trade Beaubois and Jones for future draft aspirations just like they did with Brewer and Fernandez.

All of this has to happen if they want both Deron and Dwight, they also don't own their pick which is likely going to the Lakers.
That leaves Nowitzki + $5.5 million in cap holds = $26.407.128 which will give them $31.636.872 to spend on Deron and Dwight, not quite the max you're talking about 15.5 million each that's less then what they could make with their own teams (Nets) or (Magic) but Dallas offers the chance to form a big three so they could take a pay cut just like the Heat players.

So there's a chance they could go to Dallas, in that case props to the Dallas Mavericks.

  • Rondo = Good
I really think the Celtics should try to acquire some of those players you listed . . . the C's have some expiring contracts who are still serviceable to very decent players, and the Mavs have some decent players and a couple good young guys.

If the Celtics could get Mahinmi (free agent this summer but we'd have an advantage re-signing), Beaubois, and maybe a pick in return for taking on some of Marion / Odom / Carter, I'd say go for it, even if it means trading one of the Big 3.

I don't want anything to do with Haywood's deal, though.

I think what Dallas will do is, to send Odom to a team under the cap on condition that they would take on Haywood's contract as well and the team that fit's the bill are the Kings.

Thompson likely gone, Greene and Jackson are restricted and not centers plus Hayes is undersized so they should take both I think.

That will be a big relief for the Mavericks, who then only has to amnesty Marion as I don't see any team wanting him, if they did though then you amnesty Carter.

Beaubois is very good and should be easy to move, together with Jones.

So we won't get any of their players, and frankly we shouldn't have such low expectations about our offseason.

A trade with Dallas would probably be in the off-season not during the season.  I could absolutely see the Mavericks being willing to send Marion and either Jones or Beaubois out for a future draft pick, to clear space for signing someone like Dwight Howard.
