My heart says try to get that extra piece and make one more go with the Big 3 plus Rondo.  My heart says Pierce should retire a Celtic.  I don't think thats the smartest basketball thing to do, and reading Ainge's comments; I dont think he believes in keeping it together.

I think trading Pierce and letting Garnett/Allen/Oneal come off the books is the smartest way to rebuild.  You still have Rondo, 2 draft picks, and whoever you get for Pierce to build around.  I like the ideas about trading him to the Clippers and I love DeAndre Jordan.  I think sending him west is the best way to go.

I bring up the Pierce trade to Golden State that brings in Evan Turner in a 3way deal.  It puts both Philly and Golden State in a win now situation:

Pierce to Warriors.

David Lee and Dorrel Wright to 76ers

Evan Turner and Andres Nocioni to Celtics.

1. Boston still gets young piece to go with Rondo in Turner and more cap relief in Nocioni.

2. G.S. gets Pierce without giving up either of their star guards (allowing them to pursue Howard if they wish) They would also get Brackins from 76ers as filler.

3. Philly gives up young piece for someone in David Lee who can play alongside Brand and/or give them more athleticism at center.  Wright would get minutes behing Iggy, Young, and Meeks on the wing.

This is a bad trade for Boston. If anything, it guarantees a lottery pick for us, cuz we wont be making the playoffs after that trade. Nocioni sucks & we would have to pay him 13 mil to warm the bench for 2 years. Turner is a nice addition, but we already have a highly effective SG.

Nocioni comes off the books.  You include him in order to get more cap space.

Allen also comes off the books, so after this year, we will not have a good SG.

Yes, it does make it harder to make the playoffs this year, but Boston isn't winning a championship this year.  That's the whole point of this trade.  Get Evan Turner and a TON of cap space.  Start over with Rondo, Turner, and draft picks.  Throw money at Love or Howard and see what sticks. If you have to go through one rebuilding year next year and get another high draft pick, then do it.  Throw money at two top 2013 Free Agents.

Philly and GS won't do those trades.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner
