This has nothing to do with the game so far tonight but a general belief I have that we're fine. It'll come, slowly but it will. I'd bet money on it.

Anyway I figured this place needed a topic like this to keep pace with the 7 blow it up threads per day.

GOOO CELTICS!

Well, it's possible.  I'm very down on the team right now; however, it's not like we haven't seen this team play bad stretches of basketball the past two seasons.  It just usually isn't this early.  But there were plenty of times last season where they looked this bad (and the season before).

I don't know if that's a vote of confidence, but I suppose if they could snap out of it then, they can do it still now.  It's just they're yet another year older now.

But I think it's possible and I certainly hope it is the case.

Exactly.

We'll be streaky, we're an old slow team that is out of shape. Right now we're finishing training camp in a way, we'll get our legs, put in the work and be fine.

sorry to burst your bubble, but C's are not okay. This team is flawed.

Define "Fine" Do you think we will be contenders? Or are we fine to get another 2nd round exit?

Only way this team will be "okay" this year is if the Hornets buy out Chris Kaman or something and we somehow luck into a starting center.

Right now our depth is a joke.

I agree with the original poster.  We'll be fine.  I'm not quite sure what fine is right now, but playing better basketball would be a good start.  After that making the playoffs would be nice.  Then . . . well, we'll see.

The teams we have beat:

Detroit:  (3-11) bottom of their Division
Washington: (2-12) bottom of their division
Washington again
New Jersey: (4-11) tied for the bottom of their division
Toronto without best player: (4-11) tied for the bottom of their division

Make no mistake... this Celtic team is trash until they get a real starting center and 2-3 capable bench players.

I agree we will be "OKAY" as in average.  We clearly are not an ELITE team anymore.  We need some reinforcements at Center. Someone who knows how to block out and rebound and lay some hard fouls.  PERK anyone?

Really though any big guy would do.  Kaman would be fantastic but he makes 14 million, can't see how that would work..  Not sure there is much out there.  Steimsma may have to do..

Convincingly dismantling bottom feeder teams still counts for something.  It means your team is talented and capable enough to comfortably beat teams that are cohesive and don't know how to execute plays, play defense etc.  It's possible to win a respectable amount of games and make the playoffs simply by beating teams that you're supposed to beat quite convincingly.

However, unless this team proves that it can defeat truly competitive opponents, there's not much reason to think they'll go anywhere in the post-season.
