Very few players can score down low like Shaq, even at his advanced age.

Big Al would be a fantastic fit with our starting unit.
if we had Jeff green we might be able land big al but now we don't have the chips for him... but there are guys Danny could go after....I'm just not sure Danny is looking to go after this position. Im afraid he thinks JO is good enough ...

This is a very good point. I wonder what kind of effect bringing in just a big body like Pryzbilla would have. Or maybe Omer Asik?

The Bulls aren't just giving away Omer Asik, and I'm not convinced that Joel Pryzbilla would be the saviour that many seem to think he would be.

Well yeah im not saying the bulls would just trade him away. It would have to be for ray allen most likely.

My memory might be wrong, but I just remember him hurt all the time, so I'd say no...I don't remember him at center
There was a stretch where he was repeatedly scoring 20+ PPG. He gives another legit scoring option and a defensive backbone. Nobody wants to drive to the hole with a 300+ pound 7 footer in your way waiting to hack you.

That team was the Big 5. It was amazing. I believe our 2010-11 team was the best of the Big 3 era when everyone was healthy. We were just so dominant, and Rondo reached star status.

and how old was THAT team? could there be a better example that the real problem is the lack of a center and not the team's age?

plus, it put JO exactly where he should be...backup center...

i hope every takes a look at the game log and sees how good this team was with Shaq.

http://espn.go.com/nba/team/schedule/_/name/bos/year/2011/boston-celtics

the age is relevant because that amount of success was not sustainable.  at the start of the season, you had the Big 3 and Shaq all well-rested and energized by the prospect of playing together and competing for a championship.  then the wear and tear of a long regular season set in, Shaq went out (more or less permanently), and age / injuries caught up with KG and to a lesser extent Ray and Paul.

the start to last season was indeed very impressive, but it was unsustainable.  if shaq had joined the team a few years sooner, however, they would have been incredible.

I don't agree, Pos. The Big 3 were incredibly healthy last season. The thing that changed in the season is going from a dominant center to a soft center.

If you put a real center on this team, I think you would see a huge improvement.

Last year, KG was good enough to keep our defense elite with Semih Erden, Big Baby and Krstic seeing big chunks of playing time at the 5.  JO's not helping much, but KG's problems aren't with his support, it's with his body.  He's nowhere near the presence he was last year and a new center won't change that.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups
SG: Kobe Bryant
SF: Jimmy Butler
PF: Pau Gasol
C: Yao Ming

What makes me even more dissatisfied with Jo, he said he is not worried about the offensive end, that's not the "role" he was given. I get that Jo, (they didn't draw much up for Shaq on offense as there were many times he was 5/5 or better and never sniffed another shot) BUT when you get your opportunities, you HAVE to do something with them and he doesn't even make teams think he's a threat at all!!! Jo is better than Shaq on defense (so people say) but at least teams (Miami) was afraid to bring it inside against him!! I remember in the games against Miami, when LeBrinda would drive in and Shaq would just about lay him out and he would stop coming! No one stops when they see JO there! That's a big reason why Dallas beat them in the finals, they weren't just driving inside all willy-nilly! You gotta make them shoot jumpers all day! JO is fine as your second C but he cannot give us what we need against the better teams as our main C! If we didn't figure that out last season (we tried to trade him so...), then this is gonna be the downfall! Our C has to be TOUGH, someone that either makes the other teams guys foul out or foul out with HARD hits given to shake their spine! As much as I miss Shaq doing it (on both ends believe it or not), it makes me miss Perk who could also lay you on your butt hard (his offense is better than what I have seen from JO and that's sad b/c I'm told Perk was bad there, but it's true)!
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

His Achilles injury must have been serious. The dude can still ball at a high level.

We miss Shaq's presence, personality, and swagger.

We can say the same thing about Perk too.

But obviously losing is frustrating and we're not as bad as we've been playing so we just need to get better.
