Send Allen to CLE for Varejao & Gibson

Boston gets paint presence & perimeter shooter in Boobie Gibson. As for CLE, they get a seasoned vet to lead a young & inexperienced crop of guards. Not to mention that Allen is an expiring contract & Varejao has another 4 yrs in his contract.

What do y'all think?

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.
Add Tristan Thompson, and  a 1st, and it'd be a fair deal. Add some picks from our side to even it out.
I like Marcus Smart

I actually kinda like it for Boston, but I don' see why Cleveland does this.

More cap space come this summer & more PT for Thompson. Plus Ray Allen gives them a better chance of making the playoffs.

I don't actually think Allen gives them a better chance of making the playoffs.

No it wouldn't.  The trade as proposed was fair, your version no where near fair.

If Cleveland were willing to trade Varejao for cap flexibility, an expiring deal, I don't understand why Boston would have to give up Ray Allen and not be able to make a deal based around Jermaine O'Neal's expiring contract.

Varejao offers a lot more value to the C's if they can retain the Big Four and make some type of a run at the title this season.

JO for Varejao work salary-wise, the question is how much more (picks) is Cleveland going to ask for...

Boston would get the best value for players like Allen if they traded with contenders, not awful teams like the Cavs. The only reason to trade one of our best players is if someone got desperate and offered a talented young player, which isn't likely. Boston is going to keep its core intact, I'd hope.
