well, if Danny is smart, we will be rolling out a team of scrubs next season, with perhaps Rondo and a few veteran role players signed on low-cost deals.

Well, smart is a relative term in this situation.  To me smart would be managing to rebuild on the fly.  We have the cap space after all, he darn well better get it done.

Otherwise, I guess I would agree this would be best if the C's can't retool on the fly (i.e. get DH and at least one other B-level player to go along with Pierce and Rondo).

I also realize the odds may be against this happenning, but, I just don't understand your undying want to see this happen.  It's as if you'd prefer to see a 15 win team as opposed to a 50+ win team with a chance at a title.

30 games in on a fairly easy schedule we're right at 500. I don't understand how we could've fallen this far in just one off-season, extended or not. I expected this team to struggle against the top teams, but not everybody. It's truly maddening.

The players were not prepared to play this season. Talking to KG, it sounds like he was ready to miss the season and simply retire. He is a BELOW average PF this year, BELOW AVERAGE! Ray Allen's game is pretty much limited to spot up shooting. Paul Pierce cannot get his own shot anymore and when he gets clamped, they just take the ball away from him. Rondo is the only one who brings energy but he only brings it two out of three games and he still can't shoot the ball consistently and he does not play disciplined defense. Him and CHris Wilcox have managed to get a good thing going. I guess we found an adequate replacement for Kendrick Perkins (who is doing little for OKC). Brandon Bass for Glen Davis has worked out but we are really missing Brandon Bass. Jermaine O'Neal gives us what he can, I wish people would get off his case. He is on the bottom rung of starting centers. The bench is still an unknown. I don't think they have been given a fair opportunity but once the injuries happen to the frontliners and they will, they will be forced to play.

Doc is coming up short in the coaching department so I guess this is an old fashioned cluster foul up. I thought this could be a 42-24 team but now it is trending in quite the opposite direction, statistically with respect to stats per 100 possessions. And the trend is getting worse, much worse. Each player must make a commitment to improve themselves whether they are a rookie or a 15 year veteran.
The beatings will continue until morale improves

  • Rondo = Good

I'd prefer to see a team on its way to putting together a young title contending core, not a team with a bunch of expensive pieces whose best prospect is probably a 2nd round exit, maybe a run to the conference finals.

I remain convinced we aren't getting Howard or D-Will, so any "rebuilding on the fly" this summer would involve putting together an expensive squad with a low ceiling.  Not worth it.  I'd rather see the team go into all-out rebuilding mode.
Never forget the Champs of '08, or the gutsy warriors of '10.

I agree that I do not want the C's to turn into the Atlanta Hawks but if Ainge is able to get Howard or Williams you gotta take your chances with retooling.

I think rebuilding from complete rubble should be the last course of action.
