Doc kept Stiemer in for 20 minutes in NO and then had him in for another 15 minutes last night.  Sure, Wilcox is out, but that's some good minutes for a rookie in the 3rd and 4th games of the season.

Stiemsma isn't really a rookie, he's been around the league, and we're the first team to really give him much of a chance.

Sasha is not a good defender but he tries and works hard.   Often he is out of position and gets foul.  He did play a little better last game but all this talk of him being a good defender is nonsense and all this talk of him being a good shooter is nonsense as well.   He is competant but does not excel in either area.   I hope he does well but I think he will be up and down all season as he has a long history of inconsistency.

I think when Wilcox comes back he will eat into Stiesmsa's minutes.

As I understand, being "around the league" involves being signed by Minnesota a couple of days before the 2009-2010 season ends so that they can control him during summer league, the T-Wolves waiving him before training camp so they don't have to pay him 100K, and Cleveland signing him in pre-season but waiving him less than two weeks later.

It's not like the guy has been the inactive 15th man on a string of teams that sent him to the D-League.  These are his first regular season NBA minutes.

don't worry; moore, bradley, and JJJ will get tons of playing time next year when we're rebuilding.

doc (hopefully) won't have a choice, then.

I agree with the sentiment that this team would be greatly benefited if Doc were more like Popovich, though.  The Spurs had a renaissance last year in large part because they had a bunch of young players contributing (none of them high draft picks).

Anybody else wonder if guys like Gary Neal, DeJuan Blair, George Hill, James Anderson, Tiago Splitter would even get playing time here unless there were major injuries in front of them?

Of course they would. Just like quality rookies played under Doc. And rookies who can't produce don't play with Doc just like many didn't play with Popovich.

It's ironic you name Popovich. He has the reputation of being a rookie hater, especially amongst the Spurs fanbase. He deserves it more than Doc Rivers though.
