Paul Pierce looked great out there tonight right from the get-go. I feel like what he means to this team has been overlooked in all the hand wringing over the strange off-season and the poor start.
It's hard to pinpoint what he brought to the team tonight through the boxscore (although, the boxscore was certainly solid). There was a presence and a confidence that made this team look more like the team we've grown accustomed to over the last four years.
Man, I believe in that guy. It really is good to have our captain back!
Wasn't able to watch the full game, but even though he gave us a great spark and helped balance out the unit, I thought the main difference was simply on how the ball moved early on, rather than anything in particular that Pierce did for us. Given, I didn't watch the whole game, so I don't know how the game went along, but from the start I could see a lot of player movement, and an initial pass early in the shot clock to start off the play, which was nice to see.
That's a good point, and it's one I heard Doc make as well. I just thought we saw a little of everything that he does well early on like stripping a big down low, throwing a pinpoint full court pass, the "Truth" shake and bake from the elbow, hitting threes, throwing his Adrian Dantley like pump fakes down low and tossing his arms in to the defender while screaming for the foul.
Smart, savvy, leadership type stuff from our captain out there.
I like our team so much better with him in there.
